DOEPFER is a Eurorack modular synthesizer module equipped with eight manual/CV control switches. Its bidirectional connectivity allows one input to be connected to either of the two outputs, and either of the two inputs to one output.
The A-150-8 is a module equipped with eight manual/CV control switches. Each of the eight switches consists of a manual control button (Man.), a CV input (CV), one output/input (O/I), and two inputs/outputs (I/O1, I/O2). The switches are bidirectional, allowing one input to be connected to either of the two outputs, and either of the two inputs to one output. Two LEDs indicate the active status of the input/output. The LEDs are also used for module programming.
Operation Mode Settings
Each switch can be set to toggle or trigger mode. In toggle mode, the switch switches each time a rising edge of the CV input is detected or the manual control button is pressed. In level mode, the switch switches based on the voltage level of the CV input (constant voltage: I/O1, high voltage: I/O2) or the state of the manual control button (not pressed: I/O1, pressed: I/O2).
While holding down the toggle/level button in the program section at the bottom of the module, you can check the current setting using the two LEDs on each switch (left LED lit: toggle mode, right LED lit: level mode). You can switch modes by pressing the manual control button on each switch while holding down the toggle/level button. If a CV signal is input during this operation, it will interfere with the manual control button, causing the setting to switch via the CV signal; therefore, you need to unpatch the CV input.
Master/Slave Settings
You can set master/slave groups. Slave switches configured after the master will switch via CV input to the master switch or the manual control button on the master switch. For example, if the settings are MSSSMSMS from top to bottom, switch 1 controls 2, 3, and 4; switch 5 controls 6; and switch 7 controls 8. If all eight switches are set to master, all switches operate independently.
While holding down the master/slave button in the program section at the bottom of the module, you can check the current setting using the two LEDs on each switch (left LED lit: master, right LED lit: slave). You can switch between master and slave modes by pressing the manual control button on each switch while holding down the master/slave button. If a CV signal is input during this operation, it will interfere with the manual control button, causing the setting to switch via the CV signal; therefore, you must unpatch the CV input.
Technical Note:
To protect the electronic switches in case of improper patching (e.g., connecting two outputs), a 1K protection resistor is inserted into the O/I line of each switch. Therefore, switching the pitch CV, which requires a precise voltage for use with the VCO, will cause a voltage drop and result in inaccurate pitch. In this case, it is recommended to insert a CV buffer between the A-150-8 and the VCO. Use the A-180-3 Buffered Multiple or A-185-2 Precision Adder. The A-150-8 does not have a buffer because it would impair the bidirectional nature of the switch.
