This module is made by the German synthesizer manufacturer Doepfer. It's a multimode filter that can simultaneously output five different characteristics: low-pass, band-pass, high-pass, and notch (band-reject).
The A-121-2 12dB Multimode Filter is a CV-controllable multimode filter with a -12dB cutoff slope. It can simultaneously output four different characteristics: low-pass, band-pass, high-pass, and notch (band-reject).

The cutoff can be controlled manually or via CV such as an LFO or ADSR. The two CV inputs are added together to produce the output.

Resonance can also be controlled manually or via CV. When the resonance is increased to its maximum, it self-oscillates, allowing it to be used like a sine wave oscillator.

The A-121-2 is the successor to the discontinued A-121. However, the A-121 uses the discontinued ""CEM3320"" filter chip, resulting in a completely different sound from the A-121-2. The newer A-121-2 model has the same sound as the Dark Energy II filter, but with the added feature of CV-controlled resonance.
