Variations

This module is made by the German synthesizer manufacturer Doepfer. It's an expansion module for the A-135-4A and is a 4-channel everope follower.

The A-135-4C is an expansion module for the A-135-4A, a 4-channel envelope follower. It generates four envelope CVs from the audio signals input to each channel of the A-135-4A. These envelopes can be used to control various parameters of the A-135-4A via the A-135-4B. Typical examples include ducking, compression, and enhancement. These effects can be achieved by patching the A-135-4C's envelope output to any CV input on the A-135-4B. The strength of the envelope applied to the parameter is adjusted using the A-135-4B's polarizer. The attack/release time can be adjusted within a range of approximately 0.01 to 0.5 seconds.

This module has four audio inputs and four envelope outputs. When used with the A-135-4A, internal connections are made using a 10-pin ribbon cable. There are three connection methods: pre-gain, post-gain, and post-level. You can select the appropriate method depending on which connector on the A-135-4A you connect to. For detailed setting information, please refer to the setting manual (PDF file) on the Doepfer product page. With a long ribbon cable, you can mount the two modules in separate locations.

By connecting a patch cable to the audio input of the A-135-4C, the internal connection to the A-135-A is disconnected, allowing it to be used as an independent module. It can also be used as a simple ASR envelope module by inputting a gate signal, acting as an envelope follower for other signals.
