Variations

This module is made by the German synthesizer manufacturer Doepfer. It's an 8HP module that combines two envelopes and a VCA.

The A-142-2 Dual Envelope Controlled VCA is an 8HP module combining two envelopes and a VCA. With its simple AD/AR/ADSR type envelope and VCA combination, it allows for easy creation of percussive sounds and more.

The envelope type can be selected via a switch.

AD: Attack - Decay
AR: Attack - Release
ADSR: Attack - Decay - Sustain - Release (Decay and release times are shared, sustain level is fixed (factory setting is 50%))

The CV Duck is an additional CV input for the VCA that can be used to mute the VCA with an external CV signal. When the external CV signal input to the CV Duck exceeds approximately +5V, the VCA is completely muted; in the range of 0 to +5V, it is partially muted. Circuit-wise, the external CV signal input to the CV Duck is amplified by a factor of 2, its polarity is inverted, and it is added to the internal envelope signal (0 to +10V). The sum of both signals is used to control the VCA.

The configurable time range for Attack/Decay/Release is approximately 1 millisecond to 30 seconds. (This value can be changed by replacing it with a different capacitor.)

Options
• By changing the settings on the internal pin header, you can use the envelope output (0~+10V) and VCA input (0~+10V). By changing the settings of the two internal jumpers on each subunit, you can select which parameters are controlled by the CVT input (e.g., D + R only, A only, or A + D + R). (Increasing the CVT sets whether the CVT time is longer or shorter.)

• The connection from the gate signal bus on the bus board to each envelope can be set with jumpers on each subunit.
