The pin assignment is correct, but it does not sound properly.
Didn't you overheat the terminal when soldering?
If it takes time to solder, the insulating resin on the terminal will melt. Use a soldering iron with temperature control, or pre-solder on the terminal and the wire to shorten the soldering time.
