Variations

The A-183-4 Level Shifter is a module with four level shifters. The level shifters are required when there is a need to increase or decrease the level of the digital control signal.

Typical use is to convert a gate, trigger, or clock signal with a voltage level of +5V (or a level greater than +3V) to a voltage level of +12V. The output voltage level can be set to +12V or +5V with a jumper on the back of the module. The factory default setting is +12V. It is possible to convert from a higher voltage level to a lower voltage level (+12V to +5V), but this is rarely used. The output level setting via jumpers is global and valid for all four units. The four output signals are indicated by LEDs.

The outputs and inputs of the four subunits are internally wired together via In socket switching contacts. This allows the A-183-4 to be used as a clock/trigger/gate buffer or as a buffer multiple for digital signals. In this case, connect the signal to be buffered to In1, and a buffered (level-shifted) signal will be output from all four Outs.

Input CV Threshold
Voltages below 0.8 V are treated as “Low”.
Voltages above 3 V are treated as “High”.

Converting the level of a digital control signal (gate, trigger, clock, etc.) to another voltage level (+12 V or +5 V)
Buffering and duplication of digital control signals (gate, trigger, clock, etc.)
