TOMBO Harmonica Reed Plate Replacement Models No.1710, 1810, 1210, 2010, 3521, 3121, and 3124 [TOMBO]

The screws used to secure the reed plate are self-tapping screws, which create their own threads as they are tightened. For this reason, the screws may feel quite tight when you first begin tightening them. This is normal.

Tips for Replacing the Reed Plate

  • Use a Phillips screwdriver of the correct size.
    • No.1710, 1810, 1210, 2010, 3521: Phillips No.1
    • No.3121, 3124: Phillips No.0
  • Position the screw straight in the hole and tighten it while applying firm downward pressure.
  • It is normal to hear a "creak" or "squeak" sound while tightening.
  • Once the screw can no longer be tightened, the reed plate has been properly secured.
  • If it is difficult to apply enough force, wrapping a cloth around the screwdriver handle to make the grip thicker may help.

The reed plate is designed to be tightened firmly so that it will not loosen due to vibration during playing.

Adjustment After Replacing the Reed Plate
After replacing the reed plate, the reed offset (reed curvature) must be adjusted.

In addition, models No.3521, No.3121, and No.3124 also require tremolo balance adjustment after replacement.

If you are unable to perform the replacement or adjustments yourself, we offer a paid repair service.
