Basically, the dust is not created when cutting sound absorbing foam.

Melamine sound absorbing foam can be cut with a utility knife, so no dust is created. Since urethane sound absorbing foam is cut with a fine saw like a cutter for urethane thermal insulation material, small pieces may fall off from the cut surface depending on the sharpness of the cutter, but they will not scatter like powder dust.
