How is everyone doing?
In recent years, metal music is said to be good for health, with benefits such as mental stabilization and improved immune function.
There’s even a recent article suggesting that sharks are attracted to metal music—apparently, playing loud metal underwater draws them in. Some divers have claimed that sharks relax when they hear AC/DC! While this makes me want to dive into some B-movie shark stories, I’ll steer back to the topic and introduce Solar Guitars.
Today’s BGM
Here’s a performance video by Ola Englund, the founder of Solar Guitars.
The detailed and heavy sound seems to boost my immune system.
Solar Guitars Variations
The website of Solar Guitars neatly organizes models by type.
You can easily see that this brand is highly specialized in modern metal. With many products focused on 7/8-string configurations and down-tuning, as well as options like Floyd Rose tremolos and Evertune bridges, Solar Guitars offers high specialization at reasonable prices.
Recommended Models
Solar Guitars / A1.6BOP-FF
The appearance of this model truly hits the mark for metal guitarists!
This model features Solar Guitars’ standard Type-A shape.
It includes fan frets for high playability, a hipshot multi scale bridge, and original Solar pickups by Seymour Duncan. With such modern metal-specific features and cost effectiveness, it’s easy to see why it’s gaining worldwide attention.
Solar Guitars / AB1.6BOP Artist LTD
This artist model incorporates the same specifications used by Ola Englund in his live performances.
It features a swamp ash body, a roasted maple neck and fingerboard, and an Evertune bridge. The deep cutaway and joint processing allow for excellent playability and easy access to high positions. The bolt-on joint provides a sharp, quick response sound.
A 7-string version with similar specifications is also available to suit your needs:
Solar Guitars / AB1.7BOP Artist LTD 7-String Guitar
Solar Guitars / V1.6AOP Canibalismo
This guitar has an undeniably formidable (physical) appearance. With its Type-V shape, it features the most aggressive design, resembling something that could be used as a weapon if brought to medieval Europe.
Its hardware and specifications are also fitting for metal music. Above all, the design is striking—guaranteed to stand out on stage and create a unique visual impact.
Solar Guitars / A2.7TBL SK 7-String Guitar
Here’s the long-awaited 7-string model.
It features the Type-A body shape previously introduced. The neck has a slim profile, making it easy to transition from a 6-string guitar. Additionally, the neck joint has been cut to provide a playability similar to a through-neck. This guitar embodies the essence of metal, yet the refreshing see-through finish adds a surprising and appealing contrast.
Solar Guitars / T1.7AD
What do you think of this rather unique design?
I personally like how it combines rounded and pointed elements while maintaining an overall cohesive look.
The specifications include an alder body, maple neck, and ebony fingerboard.
It features Fishman Fluence Modern pickups, making it a serious piece of gear!
Be sure to check out the sound!
S by Solar / AB4.7C-E
S by Solar is the entry-level brand of Solar Guitars.
It achieves astonishing cost effectiveness by retaining the same technology and know-how while revising materials and parts.
Features include a deep cutaway and heel cut for enhanced playability, jumbo frets up to the 24th fret, and a 26.5-inch scale that makes it ideal for downtuning.
And above all, the price is exceptional. It’s highly recommended not only for those looking to start playing metal but also for those who don’t usually play metal but want to have a 7-string guitar.
There is also a 6-string version available, which is equally affordable—perhaps even too much so.
Conclusion
How did you find it?
There are many combinations of body shapes and hardware that we couldn’t cover all of, but I hope you got a sense of Solar Guitars’ passion for metal and their excellent cost effectiveness.
If the opportunity arises, I’d love to write a feature on B-movie shark films next time, haha!
See you in the next article.
