Winning the lottery is definitely a dream! Last month, the soccer lottery MEGA BIG, which offers a top prize of up to 1.2 billion yen, made headlines when the number of first-prize winners reached 269 due to a carryover and increased winning chances from match cancellations. So this time I've put together a list of high-end guitars I'd love to buy if I won the lottery!
Zemaitis / THE PORTRAIT PF-UW2H
When it comes to high-end guitars, Zemaitis definitely stands out. It has reached the level of being more of an art piece than just a guitar. Not only is it visually stunning, but it also utilizes high-quality materials, including Honduran mahogany that has been aged for 50 years and an ebony fretboard.
By the way, as of October 2024, this guitar is the most expensive electric guitar currently available at Sound House.
Gretsch / G6136TG Players Edition Falcon White
The Gretsch’s G6136 White Falcon is known as one of the most beautiful guitars in the world. As the name suggests, the white body paired with gold hardware creates a luxurious appearance. The body features a hollow full acoustic guitars design, and combined with its unique pickups, which produces a powerful yet sweet tone that’s truly captivating. The clean tones used in jazz are, of course, beautiful, but the distorted sounds also have a solid core and are often utilized. It's a stunning guitar that would look perfect when played in a suit!
RS GUITARWORKS /STEE
RS Guitarworks is a handmade guitar workshop located in Kentucky, USA. It's a well-known guitar maker, famous for being used by Ryosuke Nagaoka, the guitarist for Tokyo Incidents and Gen Hoshino. The STEE has a unique appearance that combines elements of both Telecaster and SG.The body shape resembles SG, but it has the same thickness as a Telecaster, resulting in a unique tone that's quite captivating.
I love guitars that have a look like the STEE, which blends the Telecaster with other guitar styles.
RS GUITARWORKS / Slab Standard
Rickenbacer / 620 JG(Jetglo)
This is the Rickenbacker 620, famously referenced in "Ochanomizu without 190,000 yen." from Ringo Shina’s Marunouchi Sadistics. Nowadays, even if you have 190,000 yen, it's hard to find one! The design features an eye-catching R shape tailpiece. Thanks to its compact body and medium-scale neck, it's relatively lightweight and easy to handle. Additionally, the through-neck construction, where the neck and body are one piece, contributes to the rich sustain that characterizes this model.
Lowden Guitars / F-50 HR/SS
Lastly, we have the acoustic guitar. As of October 2024, the most expensive one in stock is the Lowden F-50. Lowden is a guitar brand from Ireland known for its meticulously selected woods, high-precision craftsmanship, and a small team of skilled artisans. They create guitars that excel in sustain, volume, and balance. Among their offerings, the 50 series represents the pinnacle of their lineup, featuring Honduran rosewood and Sitka spruce. The F shape is the middle body size in the Lowden range, offering excellent versatility and balance for various playing styles and genres.
The total cost of the five guitars I introduced this time adds up to 4,817,800 yen. If I won the lottery, I could easily buy them all! Even if I don't win, these are all dream models I'd love to hold at least once. While I focused on guitars this time, it might be fun to explore other high-end items as well!
