Hello everyone. Spring has completely passed, and the rainy season is just around the corner. How are you all doing? Speaking of the rainy season, I wondered why the character ‘梅 (plum)’ is included in the Japanese word for it (‘梅雨’). I Googled and found out that in China, where this term came from, the rainy season comes in the season when the plums ripen and it was called ‘梅雨’. When I hear ‘plum’, I think of plum wine. I like it with soda or on the rocks, but in the colder seasons, I prefer it hot with hot water (*'▽') Anyway, today I want to introduce a highly recommended moving head.
Here it is, ta-da!

01 About Beam-Type of Moving Heads
Moving heads generally come in beam, wash, spot, and hybrid types. The VIZI BEAM RXONE is a beam-type moving head. You may have seen sharp straight beams of light on music shows, live performances, or stage lighting. That’s the kind of light this device produces.
Types of Moving Heads↓
- Beam Type: Very sharp, straight beams of light (different light source from lasers)
- Wash Type: Broad, diffused light used for color washes
- Spot Type: Beam angle between beam and wash types, sharp edges of light, can project gobos (patterns)
- Hybrid Type: Combination of beam, wash, and spot light features
02 About DMX
The VIZI BEAM RXONE supports DMX. Moving heads are generally controlled by DMX standard controllers. When using fixtures with many channels like moving heads, choose a DMX controller suited for effects.
■ About DMX512
DMX512 is a digital signal communication standard revised by the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT). It allows the exchange of lighting control data for 512 channels with a single digital cable, and each channel can be controlled in 256 steps.
These are recommended DMX controllers for lighting effects:
Elation / DMX OPERATOR 384 DMX Controller
Stage Evolution / DMX OPERATOR LITE
03 About Pan/Tilt
Moving heads allow for controls of the horizontal and vertical movements of the light beam through motor-driven pan and tilt belts. Pan refers to horizontal (X-axis) movement, and tilt refers to vertical (Y-axis) movement. The VIZI BEAM RXONE has a pan/tilt range of 540/270 degrees, allowing for dynamic movements and professional stage lighting effects.
04 About Beam Angle
The beam angle refers to the width of the light beam emitted from the moving head. The VIZI BEAM RXONE, being a beam-type, has a narrow beam angle of 3 degrees, resulting in a sharp, concentrated beam. A narrower beam angle means more intense light. This is evident in the video introduced earlier.
If you need to illuminate a broader area with softer light, consider a wash-type moving head I already mentioned in ‘Types of Moving Heads’ like the one below:
05 About Sound Active Function
The sound active function allows the lighting equipment to react to music rhythms or loud sounds, creating light effects such as flashing and rotating.
The VIZI BEAM RXONE supports this function. You can adjust the level of sensitivity and turn the function on or off according to the music or the scene.
How was it? This time, I introduced the compact and user-friendly moving head VIZI BEAM RXONE along with its specifications. I hope this article will be helpful for those considering purchasing a moving head. See you next time!
