DJ effects… I had always known of them, but I’ve never really been able to dive in.
Recently, while quietly thinking about DJ effects in the depths of my mind, a piece of good news came my way…!
What is this? It’s so cool! I completely fell in love at first sight. Goodbye to the old me who never touched DJ effects!
On January 28, the new DJ effect "RMX-IGNITE" was released. In this blog, I’ll be unboxing it and producing some sound to fully experience how amazing the "RMX-IGNITE" is!
01 Unboxing!

The AlphaTheta logo is so cool, right?

Here’s what’s inside the box:
- RMX-IGNITE ×1
- AC adapter ×1
- Power cord ×1
- Warranty card ×1
- Quick start guide ×1
- Important safety instructions ×1
↓ Inside the black envelope are the warranty card and other paperwork.

I can’t wait any longer, so let’s open the main unit!

Ohhhh!

Ohhhhh!

Lookie here~

Yeah. It’s just way too cool. The black base with the red lights really grabs your attention. It has this really dark, cool vibe! The 12 different effects have different colors on the top and bottom, so it’s easy to see the difference when you’re playing. The size of the knobs also seems to be designed for easy handling.
Now, let’s check out how each button feels when I press them.
Sample Trigger Pads (Left of the screen)
- The pads have a nice, bouncy feel, and the feedback is very clear when I press it.
- The rebound is pleasant, and pressing them feels really good.
- The playability feels extremely high.
Isolate FX Knob
- It’s large, with great visibility and operability, giving off an impression similar to the ECLER / WARM2 knobs.
- Personally, it feels a bit on the lighter side.
- You don’t need much force to move it; it’s smooth and easy to turn.
- It feels like it’s perfect for delicate control.
Lever FX
- The lever operation is super fun, and it’s surprisingly satisfying.
- However, it’s lighter than I expected, so I can push and pull it with just my fingertips.
- The tactile experience is something I’ve never encountered before, so definitely give it a try!
Up to this point, I was already really satisfied with everything, but there’s just one more thing...
It’s so cool. The REVERSE ECHO button. I’ll remember that one!
02 Connected to XDJ-AZ
Now, let’s make the connection! Normally, when connecting an effects unit, you’d use SEND / RETURN, but since the XDJ-AZ doesn’t have SEND / RETURN terminals, I’m connecting it through the MAIN OUT instead.
In this case, I’m connecting the RMX-IGNITE directly to the speakers to output the sound.
I know it sounds like a childish impression, but it’s just so flashy and cool!

Apparently, with the RMX-IGNITE, you can connect it to compatible mixers (DJM-A9, DJM-V10, DJM-V5) via a single USB cable for DIGITAL SEND/RETURN, so the sound expression will likely change too. I’ll cover the SEND/RETURN connection in a future post!
03 Try Playing!
Now that everything is set up, let’s try playing. This time, I’ll focus on testing the 3-BAND FX!
So, what exactly is 3-BAND FX?
The RMX-IGNITE has three LEVEL FX levers and three ISOLATE knobs, each affecting the HI / MID / LOW frequencies. The six effects are applied to the upper part of the LEVEL FX levers. Using these three levers, you can apply the effects to each frequency band. Essentially, you have 18 different combinations, with 3×6 possibilities!
Let’s start by touching the upper levers, LEVEL FX. Here, the six effects listed above are applied.

While you push the lever forward, the effect is active. The lever automatically returns to its original position if you’re not pressing it, meaning the effect will stop. This makes it perfect for quickly applying an effect or deciding the duration of the effect in an ad-lib fashion.
If you push the lever backward, the effect continues as long as you hold it. So, you can keep the effect going while adjusting the ISOLATE FX knobs below.

But the real fun comes when you start applying effects during the song. This is where the magic happens!!
It’s fun
Levers, levers, levers. At key turning points in the song, you press the lever to apply an effect and release it with the REVERSE ECHO button. Reset. It feels way too good.
Next, let’s play with the ISOLATE FX! Just like the LEVEL FX above, the six effects are controlled by three knobs.

The ISOLATE FX knobs are large, making them very easy to touch and operate. While the LEVEL FX levers have a playful quality, the ISOLATE FX knobs have a sense of calm... or rather, a sense of calm...
Actually, no, there’s no calm. It’s incredibly fun.
The tactile feel of the ISOLATE FX is evolving into something I just have to touch and turn. Since it feels so natural to use, of course I’m going to keep turning it! Turn, turn, turn, release with REVERSE, reset.
It feels too good.
Finally, let's talk about the REVERSE ECHO button, which I’ve been totally hooked on.
Under the REVERSE ECHO button, you can switch between DRY mode and MUTE mode. When you press the button in DRY mode, it returns to the original sound with the echo effect applied. Returning to the original sound means that all effects are reset.
It seems that the ECHO effect also disappears once you release your finger.
In MUTE mode, all sound is muted. It creates a reset effect.
While you’re pressing, the sound is muted, so you can really build up the tension and then BAM! Release it all at once!
Before the crowd, I’ll be the first to get hyped up.
04 To summarize
The RMX-IGNITE is just so much fun. I really want everyone to try it out and experience it for themselves—especially the thrill of the REVERSE ECHO.
This unit stands out for its ease of use, and I believe it will let people who have never touched an effects unit before truly enjoy its fun!
Released on January 28, 2026, the RMX-IGNITE will definitely make your DJ life even more enjoyable! See you next time!
