I'm Ichikura and I’m in charge of cymbals at Sound House! Recently, I got a snare drum that I have been longing for. I have been playing drums for about 10 years, but until now I have been using snare drums that are available in schools and studios, so my longtime dream has come true (tears). In addition to purchasing a snare drum, I also purchased drum accessories and cases that I will need for maintenance and sound production. In this blog, I would like to recommend three items I recently purchased, as well as some extra items!

Evas / DATK Torque-type Drum Tuning Key
I am ashamed to admit that I am a little bad at tuning…However, this Torque Key is an item that will be my friend! You can set the tension range with the adjustment screw and tighten the tension bolt by the set value. If you hold the black lower part (silver part), you can use it as a normal tuning key, so you can use it to adjust the tension a little bit after the head is evenly tensioned at the beginning. Also, although it is not possible to set the same tuning every time due to the head becoming loose, I use this torque key for the time being when I have to tune the instrument when I don’t have time! Even though I am not good at tuning, I can easily use this product, so I would like everyone to try it.
Evans / EQPODS Gel Mute for Drumheads
I bought this gel mute completely because of its appearance. It looks and feels very gummy and has the Evans logo on it, which is kind of cute…Not only does this gel mute look great, but it also functions very well. It can be used semi-permanently because if it gets dirty and loses its adhesiveness, washing it with soapy water will restore its adhesiveness. 7 sheets are available in 2 sizes, so you can use this product to mute not only snare drums, but also toms and cymbals. You can also adjust the mute effect depending on the number of pieces you place on the snare drum. This means that you can experiment with the degree of muting you like! Also, since it comes in a tin can case, it is easy to store and carry around.
PROTECTIONRACKET / LPTR14SD5.5PDL (TZ3015) Snare & Pedal Case
I used to carry only pedals, so I wanted a case that could hold snare drums and pedals together and was attracted by the PRPTECTIONRACKET logo, so I bought this case. The case itself is not flimsy, but thick and solid. The inside is all fluffy material and there is a divider in the top section to keep it from cushioning other things, so I put a snare and a splash cymbal in there. It also has a large pocket where I keep many small items such as beaters and tuning keys. You can carry it on your back like a backpack or sling it over your shoulder, but if you purchase a cart separately and secure it with a cord, you can also roll it around for easy transport! This is a must-try product for those who frequently carry their equipment outside and want to carry it with ease.
Extra edition
Gibraltar / GHPM-R Monitor Headphones
As an extra, I would like to introduce an item that I purchased some time ago and love to use.
This is a monitor headphone sold by Gibraltar, a manufacturer of hardware for drums. They have excellent sound insulation performance with a passive noise isolation mechanism that effectively reduces ambient sound. I use them during studio practice because they’re ideal for when the sound of other instruments is too loud for me to concentrate! Of course, they can also be used on a daily basis, so I highly recommend this product.
I introduced and reviewed some of the items that I recently purchased and recommended. Did you find them helpful? They are all really good items, so check them out!
