Lately I have been seriously thinking about the problem of compact pedals being too heavy. It’s fun to have a full lineup of pedals, but if I had to carry them around every time, I would end up with aching shoulders... So, this time, I tried out the ZOOM G2 FOUR model, which comes to mind when you hear multi-effects pedals.
ZOOM / G2 FOUR Multi-Effects Pedal for Guitar

First of all, this pedal fits in the pocket of a guitar case with room to spare. And it’s super light!
Connect the included adapter and turn it on! The adapter is 9V, 0.5A, so I’m really glad that it can be used with a general power supply.

When you turn on the switch, you can choose between AMP output and LINE output, and if you choose LINE output, you can already listen to the sound by plugging your earphones into the earphone jack! You can practice literally anywhere! I am already so impressed.

Personally, the most exciting feature is the wide variety of effect types available. Even beginners who do not have a full set of equipment can easily create authentic sounds. While flicking the ◀ ▶ buttons, I discovered the “TeenSPRT 1991” mode, which I know this is something that Nirvana fans will love! Now you can copy the complete “Smells Like Teen Spirit” sound.

When this mode is selected, it’s possible to make minute adjustments for equalization of distortion, chorus, and amp, allowing you to create more desired tones! Of course, you can also create models by selecting effects from the library one by one.
The G2 FOUR’s best feature is its newly developed multi-layer IR function. I wasn’t sure about what it was at first, but after trying it out and listening to its sound, I understood why it’s the best feature. The sound is easy to handle and has an analog feel in a good way because it can truly reproduce the characteristics of the amp’s tone, which changes in response to the guitar’s volume and picking.
In addition, there is a common problem among multi-effects pedals for beginners who claim that, ”The controls are too difficult to use,” but there are not many types of controls on the G2 FOUR and they are very simple, so you can operate them by intuitively fiddling with the knobs. Even I, who have delved deep into the pool of analog effect pedals, was impressed by the ease of operation.

These pictures show jacks. The AUX IN jack allows you to practice with a sound source and the OUTPUT jack can be used for mono or stereo. An optional expression pedal can be added via the CONTROL IN jack.
There’s a headphone jack and USB port on the side panel. The G2 FOUR can be used as an audio interface by connecting it to a computer or smartphone/tablet to create music!
It also has looper, rhythm machine, and tuner functions. This one has so many useful functions that you may think you don’t need to buy any other complicated equipment if you just have this one.
This is my review of the G2 FOUR!
I recommend this product for beginners who are not sure what to buy, or for those who are considering a multi-effects pedal as an addition to the equipment they already own! If you are interested in this product, go check out the product page!
