Hello, my name is Ishimoto and I am a guitarist!
I normally produce music for TV and stage, and play backup for artists.
Sound House has always been a great help to me, so I would like to review Warm Audio’s Centavo!
Thank you very much for your support!
By the way, I bought the new original Klon Centaur when I was in college and have been using it for a long time, and it is still sitting center stage on my board.

As you know, recently the market price has been skyrocketing, and I was interested in the Centavo because I was worried about my Klon Centaur breaking down while I was on tour for a long time.
First of all, the differences in appearance is like this.

It looks just like the Klon. I wonder if it’s okay to make them look so close together...
I think the Klon is a little heavier.

On the back side, you can see the difference in the size of DC jacks.
The MOD switch on the Centavo seems to be the greatest feature of this pedal.
Now, I would like to play and compare them!
Recording settings:
- Fender Telecaster Custom (’72)
- Connected two pedals to the Loop on the Musicom EFX MK-VI switcher for easy comparison
- Marshall 2555 (Black Jubilee) amp
- Marshall 1936 cabinet
- Shure SM57 microphone and AVID Carbon interface

Now, I’m going to play it!
*(I used an old camera, so it may be a little hard to see but...)
- The silver switch cap in the upper right on the switcher is for the Klon.
- Also the champagne orange switch cap is for the Centavo.
How did you like it?
It looks the same, and it sounds exactly the same lol! I’m unnecessarily worried but I wonder if that’s really okay that they are so similar!
My impression is that the Centavo sounds slightly wider in both the high and low frequency ranges that also sounds a little more modern to me, and the Gain setting seems to have a wider range (I think this is partly because I own a newer Centaur with silver casing).
I was surprised by the MOD switch on the back of the pedal. I had thought that this kind of switch would exaggerate the low end, but I was impressed at how this switch can delicately and elegantly boost the low end.
The original Klon Centaur has a focus on the mid range, which can be a bit lacking or insufficient in some cases, but I think this switch will be very useful, especially for recording.
Anyway, although the curves of each knob are slightly different, I was really surprised that sometimes I honestly could not tell the difference between the Klon and the Centavo at all when I was playing!
Although the original Klon has a slight advantage in terms of the mid standing out more and pushing out, it also creates a wide range of sound that matches the modern range of music, which the original does not have, and I felt that it was well worth purchasing it.
The price of guitar effect pedals continues to rise these days, so it is surprising to see such good quality at a very reasonable price point!
