I had the opportunity to borrow the new condenser microphone, the WARM AUDIO WA-87jr SE, so I’ll be reviewing it here.
My first impression of the WA-87jr SE is its matte texture and a sense of luxury that you wouldn’t expect from a 29,800 yen microphone.
It came with a microphone mount, but since this model does not have a low-cut filter, I used the CLASSIC PRO universal shock mount adapter “CMS1” to reduce vibration pickup.
As for the features of the WA-87jr SE:
It is based on the famous U87-style microphones (such as the Neumann U87), and compared it to 47-style mics, it has a more modern sound with good clarity and well-defined vocal presence, making it easy to handle.
Now, let’s try it out right away!

When I tried recording saxophone, I was surprised by how completely different the character was compared to my usual go-to microphones, the ASTON MICROPHONES / Spirit and the WA-47jr SE!
It has a very clear and natural tone, making it extremely easy to work with
I’m impressed by this level of sound quality at this price.

The high frequencies have that characteristic smoothness typical of WARM AUDIO, so it seems like it would also pair well with drum ambience.

The WA-87jr SE is highly recommended as a first condenser microphone for beginners.
Be sure to give it a try!
