Positive Grid Spark Series Overview - 2025 Edition

Since the release of the digital guitar amp Spark by Positive Grid in 2019, the Spark Series has continued to captivate many guitarists. Featuring the BIAS tone engine, which Positive Grid had already been using, the Spark Series boasts a rich variety of amps and effects, as well as unparalleled sound quality.

Spark 40

The Spark Series began here. This 40W amp comes with 33 amp models and 43 effects. Using the dedicated Spark app, you can edit your tones. With players around the world sharing their own presets to the cloud community, you can search for sounds from your favorite guitarists. The app also includes features like Auto Chords and Smart Jam, making it ideal for practice and jam sessions at home. With a 40W output, it’s perfect not only for home practice but also for band performances and small live bar gigs. There’s also a Pearl color model with a white finish, and both colors are attractive.

Spark MINI

This 10W portable amp includes the same amp models and effects as the Spark 40. Unlike the Spark 40, which requires a power source, the Spark MINI is battery-powered via USB and weighs just 1.5kg, making it easy to carry for practice or small jam sessions on the go.

Spark GO

Despite its small size, this 5W ultra-portable amp offers high sound quality, redefining the concept of small amps. I’ve tried many small guitar amps, and the Spark GO, without any cheap feel due to its size, provides a miniaturized version of the Spark 40 and Spark MINI sounds. Its extremely compact design fits in your pocket.

Spark LIVE

This 150W 4-channel amp and PA system accommodates guitars, basses, vocals, and more. Its powerful 150W output can compete with drum sounds. With built-in mixing and effects and extensive app integration, it’s versatile for live performances and rehearsals. It can also be easily mounted on a standard 35mm PA monitor stand, making it useful as a PA speaker for music events, presentations, parties, and more. You can also link two Spark LIVE units for simultaneous control.

Spark CAB

This 140W powered cabinet is designed to amplify the sound when using the Spark, Spark MINI, or Spark GO as an amp head. The Spark CAB can also serve as a power source for the Spark Series, eliminating the need for an amp power supply. It can even charge your smartphone, so you don’t have to worry about the battery running out while using the Spark app. If you want to use the sound you’ve created with the Spark Series in a music club, this Spark CAB is recommended.

Spark Control

With four customizable switches, you can operate all Spark Series amps. You can switch presets, turn effects on and off within a preset, and control playback or stop audio tracks with your feet. The Bluetooth connection eliminates cable clutter, which is a significant advantage.

Spark Control X

This is an evolved version of the Spark Control! It now features six switches and an expression pedal input. With support for an expression pedal, you can control volume and wah with your feet. As of June 2024, there’s no dedicated expression pedal for the Spark Series, so you’ll need to use third-party products like the Roland EV-5.

Spark LINK

This is an ultra-low latency wireless guitar system designed to match all Spark amps. Since all Spark Series amps and footswitches use wireless connections, other wireless systems sometimes interfere and fail to connect properly. However, with Spark LINK, you can use other wireless connections with peace of mind, free from these concerns. I use Spark GO, Spark Control, and Spark LINK at home, creating a cable-free and stress-free practice environment.
