I Went to 1000 People ROCK FES. GUNMA 2024!

On Saturday, June 1st, despite a rain forecast due to a typhoon, the weather turned out beautiful with a pleasant early summer breeze for the 1000 People ROCK FES. GUNMA 2024.

Date: June 1 (Sat.), 2024, starting at 2:00 p.m.
Venue: Ikaho Green Farm

1000 People ROCK FES. GUNMA is a huge, participatory live event where approximately 1000 band members perform together.

The event announces a set song in advance, and participants practice until the event date.

This year’s set song was “Chiisana Koi no Uta” by MONGOL800, a staple cover for bands!

The venue, Ikaho Green Farm, is located at the foot of Haruna Mountain, famous for the car of a tofu shop.

In a space of the farm, where sheep leisurely graze beyond the hills, 1000 people simultaneously play music!

When we arrived about two hours before the start, many participants were already relaxing on the soft grass, having completed their preparations. It looked very comfortable...

Now, let’s take a look around the venue!

The stand with a roof was the vocal area, with numerous microphone stands lined up.

Behind it was the drum area. I’ve never seen so many drum sets in one place!

Around the large tree, which symbolizes the event, were the guitar and bass areas.

The guitar and bass players brought their own amps with built-in batteries. Many people brought guitars with built-in amps as well.

In preparation for this event, local guitar classes were held. Naturally, the guitar kids who improved their skills were also there, with colorful ZO-3 guitars lined up in waiting!

At 2:00 PM, the start time, participants responded with music instead of applause to the passionate opening declaration by the organizer.

“1000 People Rock, Come On!!”

Now, the performance has begun! This event is all about experiencing that one moment!
About 1000 people, led by the band formed by administrators, filled the meadow with rock sound.

The loud music carried by the wind from the speakers blended into the green hills…
The sheep never cared about the sound and continued grazing...
It was a comfortable moment that felt perfectly natural despite being extraordinary.

When the intense time of putting all their soul into one song ended, and we were left wanting more,

“You practiced another song, right!?”

In a burst of excitement, the participants played another MONGOL800 hit, “Anata ni”, as a secret song. I also felt nostalgic and couldn’t help but move my body!

After the secret song ended, an encore arose from somewhere.
They played the two songs again.

With a lingering outro, the event came to a close.

Such a beautiful open-air venue!
