Fuji Rock 2026 is over, and once again, I had an amazing time. I’m already looking forward to next year’s festival, and it gives me motivation to work hard for another year until Fuji Rock comes around again.

According to my phone, I walked a total of 103,050 steps, or about 62 km (38.5 miles) during the festival. (I attended from the Thursday night pre-party through four nights and five days, camping in a tent.) Somehow, even though I don't usually get much exercise, I can walk that much at Fuji Rock. #JustFujiRockThings
My personal best act this year was, of course, that duo: Angine de Poitrine on Sunday at Field of Heaven! I watched from the very front row. They were absolutely incredible and so much fun!! And they’re so cute!!! I had become completely obsessed with them after seeing videos of their KEXP performance on social media back in February, but seeing them live made me love them even more. I seriously hope they come back to Japan for a solo tour as soon as possible.
This time, I even ordered an official Angine de Poitrine t-shirt from their website in advance, painted my nails with polka dots, and wore a polka-dot jacket over the t-shirt. I was fully committed... but it started raining that morning, so everything ended up hidden under my rainwear. Haha. #JustFujiRockThings (The rain stopped right before Angine de Poitrine started!)
I noticed lots of people at the venue were also wearing polka dots. At the pre-party, someone was even wearing a full-body polka-dot bodysuit. I'm convinced it was a ZOZO Suit.
If you’d like a detailed live report on Angine de Poitrine, I highly recommend Dr. Funkshitteru’s article published on Rolling Stone Japan. It goes into detail about the odd time signatures and other musical aspects, and it’s a really easy read.
I still can’t get over the post-show feeling, so Angine de Poitrine is still my commuting soundtrack. ●〇●〇
Other highlights included Turnstile, Antibalas, The xx, Yuuf, Basement Jaxx, BadBadNotGood, Tomora, Kneecap, The Breaks, Massive Attack, and many more... Also, Tom Rowlands’ DJ set at Naeba Shokudo was absolutely insane.
Looking back, I really had such a great time this year.

If you’re wondering, “How was that artist?” be sure to check out the official festival reports. Professional writers have covered each performance in detail, complete with photos.
There are also lots of reports on the festival food, so fair warning—they’re guaranteed to make you hungry.

My favorite festival food this year was definitely the mackerel sandwich from Marutomi Shoten in Avalon! Their shaved ice and churros were also fantastic. I really hope they come back next year.
Gapao rice, curry, and Sanzoku-yaki from Pyramis Cafe, maitake tempura soba from Tanaka Kumakichi, tororo rice from Naeba Shokudo, Steak bowl from the Prince Hotel, gohei mochi, Echigo Beer... These are my annual Fuji Rock favorites that I always make sure to eat (and drink). They’re all delicious every single year♪

Naeba had quite a bit of rain this year, which actually made it much more comfortable. The humidity was high, but it was still far better than blazing sunshine all day. I also got lucky and pitched my tent in a spot that stayed shaded in the morning, so I didn’t wake up feeling like I was inside a steam room. I was able to sleep in comfortably.
My Gear This Year (Inside the Festival Grounds)
Day 1 (Friday)
- Clothing: T-shirt + lightweight pants (UNIQLO) + trekking socks (mont-bell) + trekking shoes + cap
- Bag: In my backpack, I had rainwear (KiU poncho), towel, disinfecting wet wipes, lightweight windbreaker, sunglasses, insulated bottle (barley tea), snacks (nuts, etc.)
- What’s in my sacoche is a wallet, smartphone, mini towel, eye drops, mint spray, lip balm, etc.
- + a foldable chair.
Day 2 (Saturday)
- Clothing: T-shirt + full rainwear (Gore-Tex jacket and pants) + Trekking socks (mont-bell) + trekking shoes + foldable waterproof hat (KiU)
- Bag: In my sacoche, I brought a wallet, smartphone, mini towel, eye drops, mint spray, lip balm, etc.
- + a foldable chair.
*Since I was already wearing my rain gear, I carried much less. I tied a tenugui towel to my sacoche, and put my drink in the foldable chair’s carrying bag.
Day 3 (Sunday)
- Clothing: Angine de Poitrine t-shirt + full rainwear (Gore-Tex jacket and pants) + Trekking socks (Himalaya original merino wool blend) + trekking shoes + foldable waterproof hat (KiU)
- + a foldable chair.
*This was Angine de Poitrine day, so I went all in. I put my phone, wallet, mini towel, and other essentials in my rainwear pockets, so the only thing I carried was my foldable chair. My drink also went into the chair’s carrying bag.
This Year’s Discovery
Merino wool blend trekking socks are incredibly comfortable.
(I also brought Lady Sound House socks, but the trekking socks were so comfortable that I never ended up wearing them.)
That’s it! Next year’s Fuji Rock will be the festival’s 30th anniversary, and I’m already incredibly excited to find out who’s going to perform. I can’t wait!
