Since you’ve been gradually getting used to your new environment, maybe some of you are wanting to try a new instrument?
Let’s start playing the ukulele!
Maybe you have thought about playing guitar but you’re thinking that you won’t stick with it for too long.
Ukulele is the answer!
I myself gave up playing the mini-guitar and the electric guitar, but I love playing the ukulele. This time, I’m going to tell you why you should start playing the ukulele and my personal recommended ukuleles.
Great Things about Ukuleles
They're Easy!
I know there's a lot of reasons to quit playing musical instruments, but personally, I think the No.1 reason for this is because it gets to be too difficult to play. A guitar has 6 strings and the tab scores are so complicated… A ukulele has only 4 strings! Yess!

Isn’t chord playing on guitar another reason to give up playing? With a ukulele, you can play a lot of chords with just one finger, so you can learn to play the ukulele and sing right away.

↑This is the C chord. Just put down your one fingertip like this and you’re done.
The F chord is very simple for beginners. It's as simple as that. Just put down two fingertips.

Budget-Friendly
Maybe some people gave up buying musical instruments in the first place because they’re too expensive. Instruments themselves can be expensive, but when you want to start playing the guitar, you need to get an amp, a shielded cable, a tuner, a guitar stand, and so on. The ukulele itself is relatively low-priced for a stringed instrument! You can buy a proper one with only 10,000 yen! Many of them cost less than 5,000 yen!
Types of Ukuleles
Ukuleles come in sizes from smallest to largest: soprano, concert, tenor and baritone. Other than baritone, the basic tuning is the same, so the price range and sound differ. To summarise roughly, the price tends to be higher for the larger sizes. The sound is warmer and ukuleles are more ukulele-like in the smaller sizes and more guitar-like in the larger sizes, but with more depth. Personally, I recommend soprano ukuleles for children with small hands and for those who want to go for the cheapest price and concert size ukuleles for adults, which are easy to play and not too expensive. Sound is a matter of taste, so I think it's best to narrow it down to some extent by appearance and price range, then have a look at the videos on individual product pages.

Soprano Ukulele
PLAYTECH / PUK100C Yellow Soprano Ukulele with gig bag
For younger children, I recommend the Loog soprano ukulele, which can be played by children as young as 3 years old. I want to buy one for my niece’s 3rd birthday so badly.

Ukulele bass
FYI, there is an instrument called the ukulele bass. The tuning is the same as the bass, but the strings are rubber tubes. If you want to start playing something different from others, then this is for you.
These are my personal opinions on why you should start playing the ukulele and my recommended products! These are perfect for beginners. Why don’t you give it a try?
