SAMSON is particularly well known for its wireless and USB microphones, but the company also offers an attractive lineup of PA speakers. In this issue, I’m going to introduce the advantages of the brand new and highly anticipated Expedition Explor - a battery-powered all-in-one portable PA system that was recently released.
1. No need to worry about power supply
There are many advantages to owning this type of PA speaker, but the most important one is that it does not require a power supply, which means it can be used anytime, anywhere! Basically, speakers need a power source to produce sound, so they’re most commonly used indoors and outdoors with a generator. However, the Expedition Explor can be used continuously for up to 12 hours thanks to its built-in battery. I don’t think many PA speakers can run for half a day even at events. In other words, in most cases, you don’t even have to worry about running out of battery power!

2. Easy controls
The Expedition Explor only has 5 types of knobs!
(1) VOLUME, (2) REVERB (CH1/2), (3) BASS, (4) MID, (5) TREBLE
Beginning users can change the settings with peace of mind. Adjust the volume balance of each channel, then simply use the 3-band equalizer to adjust the sound quality of the low, mid, and high frequencies!
More expensive and multifunctional speakers have the advantages of detailed sound creation on the LCD display and wireless control with the dedicated app, but they also have the disadvantage of being more complicated to operate.

3. Lightweight
Portable PA systems are, as the name suggests, portable, so they can be often moved, set up, taken down, and stored. The Expedition Explor is only 6.8 kg, making it so light that you can lift it with just one hand! The handle on the top is wide and deep, which I found it very easy to hold.

4. Supports various positioning options
Many PA speakers can be placed horizontally on the floor to be used as floor monitors, but the Expedition Explor also supports tilt-back positioning. This means it can be faced upwards when placed on the floor vertically. This is useful for venues where speakers cannot be mounted on stands, but you want to make sure the sound is delivered to the standing audience. Tilt-back positioning is recommended for street musicians and performers.

5. Optional wireless microphones can also be used
The SAMSON XPD2 handheld USB wireless microphone is a high-quality microphone that can be used immediately by simply plugging the receiver into the USB port and turning on the handheld microphone. The Expedition Explor also supports Bluetooth music playback, so it can be built into a complete wireless PA system!

6. Connect anything
In addition to mic-level and line-level, the Expedition Explor supports input of high-impedance signals like electric guitars. The CH3 can be connected to Bluetooth or the stereo mini input for music playback. At events where you are playing instruments while singing or using a microphone while playing background music, all you need is this Expedition Explor.

7. Simply excellent sound
There are multiple components that people look for in a speaker, but the main point of getting a speaker is whether it produces an excellent sound. The Expedition Explor uses a three-way speaker system (most speakers use a two-way system). By using separate units for the high, mid, and low frequencies, the crossover between each band becomes a natural, easy-to-listen sound. In addition, the 200W power amp allows you to enjoy a top level sound in terms of volume and sound pressure among other 8-inch powered speakers. The depth and volume of the bass, especially when the volume is turned up loud, is remarkable. We created a video where we compared the sound with JBL’s popular EON ONE Compact, so please watch the video so you can compare the sound yourself!

8. Safe in the dark
The Expedition Explor has a light on the top back of the unit, so there is no need to worry about turning knobs or switching switches accidentally. The light turns on when the power is turned on and it cannot be turned off, so if you want to turn it off, the light can be covered with a piece of paper or tape.

How was it?
SAMSON’s new Expedition Explor has all of the elements required in a portable PA speaker; Lightweight, usability, and high sound quality. The Expedition Explor certainly brings high-quality performance in various scenarios; Playing instruments while singing, street performances, lessons, presentations, parties, lectures, and sporting events.
