These days we are in an era where anyone can just upload videos that anyone around the world can view on the internet.
If you have a smartphone, you can easily post videos. And if you ever get the chance, you might be lucky enough to see your video go viral.
I would like to make more of a buzz on TikTok, too...
Well, I have a question for those of you who are thinking of posting videos or you’re already doing it! Are you putting some thought into the audio as much as you would for your videos?
I have a really great piece of equipment that I think is essential to those of you who are just starting out with posting videos on social media networks and to those of you who are looking to upgrade your audio equipment from a basic built-in microphone but you might not be sure what you need yet!
Really, one of the main devices that I think you’ll need to enhance your audio quality is a wireless microphone!
The greatest thing about wireless microphones is that they don’t need wires, so they will give you a higher level of freedom. Also, compared to fixed microphones and built-in microphones on cameras and smartphones, the distance between the microphone and the speaker is fairly stable, so no unnatural sounding changes in the recorded volume will occur.
This means that wireless microphones are essential for posting videos on social media networks!
Here we have a new product from BOYA that we have reviewed. This is the BY-XM6 wireless microphone for smartphones and SLR cameras that just arrived in stock the other day.
BOYA / BY-XM6-S1
BOYA / BY-XM6-S2
The BY-XM6 has two types of models which are the single type and dual type.
The dual type lets you easily record dialogue between two people!
Pairing is done by simply turning on the power just like you would for most smartphone wireless mics!
There are no complicated controls on this mic, so the BY-XM6 is recommended for people who are looking for something simple to operate.
You can connect the included lapel mic to the transmitter and also directly connect a sound source through the LINE IN.
In addition, the transmitter has a built-in microphone as well as a lapel mic connection.

The area that is outlined by the red square is the microphone.
The built-in microphone allows you to clip the transmitter on your chest, or you can hold it like a handheld microphone. This mic is really adaptable to any situation.
When I first tested out the built-in microphone, I was having a conversation with another person face-to-face. The other person’s voice did not come through at all and only my voice came through. The sound didn’t start breaking up even when I got very close to the mic.
And now, here is my favorite part about the BY-XM6!

It has quite a nice display.
This makes it so nice! To be honest, I didn’t think having a display was important.
However, when I tried out the BY-XM6, I could easily check the battery level and the volume as well as the sound level of each transmitter on the receiver.
It’s an incredibly useful feature and I was so impressed with it.
Another nice thing about the BY-XM6 is that it can fit in the palm of my hand and it’s lightweight.
I tried lining up the CLASSIC PRO AA batteries and BOYA’s popular wireless microphone system, the BY-WM series transmitter for comparison.

It’s lighter than a AA battery.
Also, if you want to use the BY-XM6 with an iPhone, you will need to purchase a cable adapter for the Lightning connector because the receiver for the Lightning is not sold.
BOYA / BY-K3 3.5mm TRRS to Lightning
I recommend this adapter. You can use it with the receiver when using the Lightning connector.
What did you think?
Do you think that you might want to try one of these nifty smartphone mics?
The biggest feature of mics for smartphones and SLR cameras is that they connect easily and have simple controls. This time I chose to write about the BY-XM6 because it’s a new product, but there are so many more wireless mics for smartphones than just what I wrote about here. If you are going to start posting videos on social media or if you have become interested in purchasing your own mic, please come to our website to check some out!
