Have you heard of the drumhead manufacturer EVANS?
EVANS is a subsidiary company of instrumental strings and accessories manufacturer D'Addario, who has a long 40-year history. Founder Chick Evans is recognized for producing the world's first synthetic drumhead. They have a large lineup of high-quality products due to the fusion of the traditional manufacturing and the latest technology developed over their long history of 40 years!
This time, I would like to talk to you more about EVANS drumheads!
1. Level 360 Technology

This technology evenly spreads the tension on the drumhead playing surface 360 degrees which gives a perfect fit with the bearing edge!
2. UV-Cured Coating Technology

This patented coating technology by EVANS provides durability that can withstand hard hitting!
3. EMAD System on the dampening ring

With the Externally Mounted Adjustable Damping (EMAD) System, the detachable dampening ring allows for attack adjustment!
4. Sound Shaping Technology

This technology can produce a balanced sound using a ring that controls the overtones underneath the drumhead!
These four are the major features, but there are many more types of coating (processing) for EVANS drumheads. Here are some of them.
- UV Coating
- This is one of the major features that I wrote about earlier. It produces a warm attack!
- Coated
- It has a rough surface and features a bright and cohesive sound!
- Calftone
- The vintage look is impressive. It produces a classic and warm sound!
- Hybrid
- It was originally made for marching drums! Heads are woven with two types of fibers.
Next, I'm going to show the lineup of EVANS drumheads!

This model is a standard drumhead! Features 2 plies of 7 mil films, has excellent durability and is recommended for rock and metal.
EVANS / B14ECSRD
This drumhead uses an Edge Control ring! With a 2-ply of 6.5 mil + 10 mil films, it also has excellent durability. Made with a reverse dot, the attack is accentuated!
EVANS / TT16HB
The vivid color of this drumhead is so unique! It has oil in between 2 plies of 7 mil + 6.5 mil films, so the sustain is decreased. This model is a must-try for drummers seeking the rock 'n' roll sound! This drumhead from the Hydraulic series also is available in the vivid colors Red, Glass, and Black! Red is quite flashy, isn't it?
