1.First of all

The 10th installment of the "DASLIGHT / DVC4 HOW TO Course." This time, we will look at the functions of the "DVC4 FUN USB interface."

2.USB interface

The following three USB interfaces are indispensable when using Daslight4.

• Entry level model “DVC4 FUN”
• Standard model "DVC4 GOLD"
• High-end model "DVC4 GOLD ZM"

Connect the interface with a computer (Windows or Mac) using a USB cable to control the LED par lights, moving heads, and so on. Control is performed using Daslight4 common software, but the functions vary depending on the interface grade, and the total number of DMX channels that can be controlled also differs.

3.DVC4 FUN

Let's take a look at the entry level model "DVC4 FUN".

"FUN" has an XLR 3-pin terminal and connects the USB interface with the lighting unit via a DMX cable in the same way as a DMX controller.

In Live Mode and Stand Alone Mode, up to 128 channels can be used in one universe. In Express Mode, up to 32 steps can be created per scene, and up to 4 scenes can be played simultaneously. * An upgrade is available for a fee

In Stand-alone Mode, scenes can be saved via USB to the built-in 64kB flash memory, which can be used for spatial lighting, such as small events and show windows, which do not require a computer. It also serves as a backup in the event of computer failure.

* Stand-alone memory capacity depends on the number of channels used. The more channels you use, the fewer steps are available.
* DVC4 FUN can be upgraded to use up to 512 channels, as well as use of the full version software with individual units.
* Using SUT (Smart Upgrade Technology), DVC FUN can be upgraded for a fee, but the interface needs to be synchronized periodically via the Internet (every 1080 hours).
* When your computer is connected to the Internet, the remaining offline time will be reset to 1080 hours.

4.Summary

DVC4 FUN is the perfect DMX software and interface for those who are considering controlling lighting using a DMX controller for the first time. Because there is a limit to the number of steps and the number of simultaneous playbacks, it is suitable for simple lighting effects, such as lighting LED par lights in an original pattern. If you want to create powerful, dynamic lighting with moving heads or play back multiple scenes at the same time, we recommend the DVC4 GOLD standard model or the DVC4 GOLD ZM high-end model. With a normal DMX controller, you may not know how the saved scene will function unless you actually turn on the lighting and check the operation. However, you can name the scene and save it on a computer, and check the operation in advance with 3D images on the computer screen. USB compatible DMX software and interfaces are recommended for various lighting applications, such as show windows, bars, karaoke cafes, and live houses.
