This is Part 8 of the "DASLIGHT / DVC4 HOW TO Course." This time, I'm going to introduce the functions of the USB Interface DVC4 GOLD ZM.
2. USB Interface
The USB interfaces that are necessary to use Daslight4 are these 3 models:
- Entry model "DVC4 FUN"
- Standard model "DVC GOLD"
- High-end model "DVC4 GOLD ZM"
Connect the interface to a computer (Windows or Mac) with a USB cable to control lighting such as LED par lights and moving heads.
You can control the lighting with the common software called Daslight4, but some functions are not available depending on the interface grade, and the total number of controllable DMX channels differs.
3. DVC4 GOLD ZM
Let's take a look at the interfaces starting with the DVC4 GOLD ZM high-end model.
GOLD ZM has XLR 3 pin and XLR 5 pin female terminals.
In fact, the 5-pin terminal can be used for two DMX outputs.
*DMX 5-pin x1 and DMX3-pin x2 Y cables are included.
Pin 2 and 3 are Universe 2
Pin 4 and 5 are Universe 3
*This cable is not for splitting one DMX signal into two.
In Live Mode, 3 Universes ⇒ 1,536 channels
3 Art-Net via Ethernet socket of computer (Windows or Mac) ⇒ 1,536 channels 3,072 channels in total can be controlled.
*1 Universe has 512 channels. Check the contents below!
DASLIGHT / DVC4 HOW TO Course Part 3 "Multi-Universe Setting"
Stand Alone Mode can control 2 Universes 1,024 channels.
A microSD card has a maximum of 4GB storage and is used to store the scenes.
Also supports multi zones (500 scenes, 5 zones).
Connects within the local Wi-Fi network, and can be controlled with iPhone, iPad, Android app "Easy Remote" or "Arcolis."
*The RJ45 (Ethernet) socket of the interface is used instead of USB, and it doesn't output Art-Net.
By using 8 dry contact ports, you can trigger the scenes in both Live Mode or Stand Alone Mode.
To trigger a scene using a relay, bridge the ground pin and pin 1-8 of the HE10 connector.
*A dry contact is also called a volt-free contact, and doesn’t require voltage. Also, up to 255 channels can be triggered by combining 8 ports in binary.
The DVC4 GOLD ZM high-end model can handle up to 3,072 channels and supports up to 4GB microSD cards, so you can save data for standalone mode without worrying about the capacity. If you are planning to increase the number of lighting fixtures, you can make a generous plan with the DVC4 GOLD ZM.
See you next time!
