Hello everyone! I’m Yuuki Kitou, a guitar instructor. What kind of stand do you usually use to place your guitar?
In the past, the common options were probably just a regular stand or leaning the guitar against the wall.
However, it’s already 2021, and we’re only a few months away from 2022. With the flow of the times, various types of guitar stands have appeared, such as wall-hanging styles and stands that seem almost impossible for a guitar to fall from.
Among them are excellent guitar stands like those from HERCULES that focus on functionality, but there are also stands that focus purely on style—they just look cool.
This time, I would like to introduce a few guitar stands that will definitely lift your mood if you have them at home. ♪
■ Guitar Stand ①: FENDER 351 GUITAR SEAT/STAND
FENDER / FENDER 351 GUITAR SEAT/STAND
First, I would like to start by introducing something at an affordable price.
This guitar stand is originally a device for safely setting down your guitar. However, recent guitar stands are a bit different. When it comes from Fender, the visuals are of course outstanding...
One of the greatest points of the FENDER 351 GUITAR SEAT/STAND is that you can hang your guitar on it while also using it as a practice chair.
Since it also has a backrest, I think it would be helpful for creating a “practice space,” such as placing a chair and a music stand near your amplifier.
■ Guitar Stand ②: FENDER Classic Series Case Stand, Tweed, 3 Guitar
FENDER / Classic Series Case Stand, Tweed, 3 Guitar
This one is really... honestly unfair (laughs). If there were a stand made with this kind of tweed fabric, you’d definitely want it! Unlike the earlier chair-and-stand combination, this one is a fully dedicated “guitar stand.”
It can be folded down to about the size of an effects pedalboard, so for those who own multiple guitars or don’t trust the flimsy stands in live houses…!
You might even think about buying one for the band. It holds three instruments, but you could hang two guitars and one bass, and somehow having this stand on stage might give off the impression that you’re a “serious player.”
Using this stand as part of a performance could also be interesting. Personally, I would love to place it next to a tweed amp and look proud (laughs). Just imagining that scene feels satisfying enough to eat three bowls of rice.
■ Guitar Stand ③: ULTRACASE GSX-6
Next up is one that many people may be drawn to not only for its price but also for its visual appeal! The ULTRACASE GSX-6 model can store up to six guitars.
The biggest difference from the Fender stand is the part that holds the neck. On the Fender stand it looks like red velour fabric, but this one is made of iron or aluminum. It’s probably designed that way so it can withstand long-distance travel and harsh conditions on tours while still functioning as a guitar stand.
More than anything, this look is something you often see in Rig Rundown (overseas gear showcase) videos, right? Unfortunately, I don’t own six guitars myself, but if you have a lot of guitars to keep track of, being able to store them securely in a case like this might also give you peace of mind during earthquakes.
■ Guitar Stand ④: Mexarts SOLO ASH NA Acoustic Guitar Stand
Mexarts / SOLO ASH NA Acoustic Guitar Stand
Next is a guitar stand similar in shape to the Fender chair-and-stand combo introduced earlier: the Mexarts SOLO ASH NA. The rugged feel of the Fender is very cool, but for people who want to use it more as part of their interior décor, a model like this that lets you enjoy the natural feel of wood might be a good option.
It apparently won the “Red Dot Design Award: Product Design 2020” in Germany. The stand is slightly angled, and the neck is held in place by the chair portion, so the guitar may not be as unstable as it looks.
It’s a bit pricey, but it could be great for those who want to create a stylish atmosphere! If it were me, I would hang a guitar on it, place a light on the seat part, and upload a video of it to Instagram.
■ Guitar Stand ⑤: Mexarts CLASSIC ASH BR Classic Guitar Frame
Mexarts / CLASSIC ASH BR Classic Guitar Frame
This is the final stand in the list. Considering the meaning of the word “stand,” it’s almost hard to call the CLASSIC ASH BR a stand… haha. You can store your guitar directly in it, and you can even sit on it to play the guitar… what a stylish product this is.
It seems to be made by bending fairly thick plywood, so it should be able to support an adult. Of course, you can use it as a chair, or simply hang it on the wall and use it that way—it would look really cool!
So, that concludes the introduction to guitar stands that can lift your mood just by being there! Personally, I found the Mexarts SOLO ASH NA so stylish that I really want one… The tour-case-style stands are cool too, and the stands that can be used as part of your interior offer a wide range of options these days, which is great.
Be sure to experience a guitar stand that brightens up your room.
