THE AMP SHOP Nishida Seisakusho in Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture
To commemorate the 10th anniversary of their opening, the shop released two effects pedals, and now they are also available through Sound House!

I personally have known the shop owner, Mr. Nishida, for a long time even before he started the store, so being able to sell his products on Sound House makes me emotional.
With that said, let’s take a look at the products.
THE AMP SHOP Nishida Seisakusho (Ji Amp Shop Nishida Seisakusho) / Decade Overdrive
This is a so-called transparent-type overdrive. Being a transparent overdrive, it doesn’t distort heavily, but you can adjust the guitar’s volume to shift from overdrive to clean sounds, and it faithfully reflects the dynamics of your picking. It’s finished in a way that appeals to advanced players.
On the other hand, it might be a bit tricky for beginners, but using this kind of pedal to practice dynamics through picking can help improve your playing!
In Nishida Seisakusho’s video, the pedal is shown with more distortion, but in my experience, it also works really well as a clean booster—leaving it on adds sheen and clarity to the sound while pushing it forward nicely.
THE AMP SHOP Nishida Seisakusho (Ji Amp Shop Nishida Seisakusho) / Decade Distortion
This is a distortion pedal. Personally, I really like this distortion, as it responds strongly to picking nuances and changes in the guitar’s volume. It’s similar to the overdrive mentioned above.
Rather than a standard distortion, it has a slight fuzz-like character, and depending on the settings, it can produce a thick, Big Muff-like sound. That said, being a distortion, it’s easier to handle than a fuzz, and it’s tuned to offer a wide sonic range.
Mr. Nishida has deep knowledge of alternative, grunge, and shoegaze music, and you can really feel his personal touch reflected in the pedal. Apparently, he’s been growing his hair recently with J Mascis in mind (laughs).
As a distortion, it’s not about pristine overdrive—it has a rough, vintage Marshall-like character. I recently brought this pedal to a session and played some Led Zeppelin with it, and it produced an incredibly satisfying sound.
Some of you might be thinking, “Since these are made by an amp shop, are they amp-like distortions that are similar to…?!” But both pedals deliver excellent distortion sounds as effects pedals in their own right.
It’s the kind of sound that seems to say, “Amp distortion can only come from an amp” (laughs).
That said, they do a great job of bringing out the best in any amp, whether it’s a Marshall, Fender, or JC—truly impressive.
THE AMP SHOP Nishida Seisakusho mainly focuses on guitar amps, handling repairs and sales of guitar-related equipment.

Some might wonder why a shop that mainly deals with guitar amps is releasing pedals. The reason is that building amps in a privately owned store requires a huge amount of time and effort, which naturally makes the price quite high. For now, there are no plans to create original amps (though a few one-off amps were made in the past).
If you’re curious, you should definitely try them out for yourself.
