DDJ-GRV6 Appeal #1: GROOVE CIRCUIT Function

The GROOVE CIRCUIT function allows you to swap the drum parts of a playing track with different drum loops, transforming existing songs into different genres or styles.

I know what some of you might be thinking: "What on earth does that even mean?"

It’s seriously really cool.
First of all, the music is great, and the DRUM SWAP and Release FX feel amazing.
As many of you have likely noticed, the changes to the beat and rhythm sections were incredible.
This is the hallmark of this unit! The ability to freely manipulate the drum parts to completely change the vibe of a song—that’s what makes the AlphaTheta "DDJ-GRV6" great!

DRUM SWAP Feature

This function allows you to replace the drum part of the track currently playing with a different drum loop stored on the unit or in the app.

On the top section of the controller (within the red frame), you will find buttons labeled BANK A, BANK B, Single, and Multi.
When a track is playing, pressing these buttons will trigger the drum parts registered to each one. By setting these up in advance, you can swap in different drum patterns at any moment, allowing you to completely transform the atmosphere of the song!

Furthermore, these buttons truly show their full potential when used in combination with the Capture button (located on the top of the unit) or the Shift button (located on the side of the deck)!

BANK A、B button	Record and recall drum parts that are currently playing.	Recall saved drum parts.
Single button	You can memorize and recall the drum part currently being played.	Mute the drum part currently playing and layer a registered drum part over it.
Multi button	Record and recall the drum part currently being played.	Play drum parts from BANK A and BANK B simultaneously.

There is also a DRUM ROLL button. This feature allows the user to perform a drum roll using the drum parts of the track currently playing. Of course, you can also use this on the drum sounds being played via the DRUM SWAP feature!

DRUM RELEASE Function

The DRUM RELEASE function allows you to create temporary breakdowns.
(For those wondering what a "breakdown" is, please check out the 0:43 mark in the video mentioned earlier.)
Since you can also configure effects within rekordbox, you can create all sorts of versatile, ever-changing breakdowns! It’s amazing!
Personally, I find this breakdown function to be very intuitive and incredibly satisfying to use, so I highly recommend you give it a try...

DDJ-GRV6 Appeal #2: Club-Quality Layout

You won’t really be able to understand it until you see it in person, but this unit is quite large.
The jog wheel is modeled after the Pioneer DJ CDJ-3000, which is effectively the current club standard, and the jog size is a staggering 20.6cm. It's massive.
The mixer section is based on the design of the Pioneer DJ DJM-A9, providing more than enough performance capability to serve as a practice unit before heading to a club.
Above all, being able to get a feel for the DJM-A9’s operation is a huge plus. As more and more venues are installing the DJM-A9 as their permanent house mixer, this is the perfect piece of gear for practice.
Furthermore, because this unit allows you to luxuriously utilize all 4 channels, it’s more than enough to satisfy any solo performer.

It also supports a wide array of effects, offering great versatility. You can do just about anything with it, so you'll find yourself constantly wanting to play with it.

DDJ-GRV6 Appeal #3: Music Selection Features Focused on Accessibility

SMART ROTARY SELECTOR

The DDJ-GRV6 is overflowing with even more charm. This is embodied in the SMART ROTARY SELECTOR located in the upper center of the unit. When combined with rekordbox for Mac/Windows ver. 7, it allows for not only the traditional rotation and push operations but also tilting it up, down, left, and right. By moving it left and right, you can intuitively navigate between the Media Browser, Tree View, and Track List. By moving it up and down, you can navigate through your playlists and collection.
This is incredibly convenient! It allows you to move smoothly across your PC screen, letting you reach your tracks without any stress!

DISCOVER Function

By pressing the DISCOVER button, you can quickly access "Track Suggestion," which displays a list of recommended tracks.
Personally, when I used the Pioneer DJ DDJ-FLX4 with a smartphone, I often used the "Match" feature in the djay app to find tracks with similar BPMs. Because of this, transitioning from a smartphone + DDJ-FLX4 setup to a PC + DDJ-GRV6 setup feels very intuitive and easy to operate.

Note: The above function is available when using the Windows/Mac version of rekordbox.

DDJ-GRV6 Appeal #4: Enjoy Serato STEMS FX!

Remix performances are possible with Serato DJ Pro's STEMS FX

The DDJ-GRV6 is also compatible with Serato DJ Pro, allowing you to utilize the STEMS FX function.
You can apply effects—such as ROLL, TRANS, ECHO OUT, and DELAY—to each individual "stem" (separating the track into drums, bass, vocals, and melody). There is just so much you can do; it’s a DJ’s dream!
Additionally, by applying the included overlay sheet, you can change the labels on the controls to their specific STEMS FX names! This allows you to use the features even more intuitively.

While the Pioneer DJ "DDJ-FLX4" is limited to Serato DJ Lite, the AlphaTheta "DDJ-GRV6" supports Serato DJ Pro. This means that once you purchase it, you can fully exhaust all the features of Serato DJ without any restrictions! It is the perfect choice not only for those looking to upgrade from their current DJ controller but also as a first-time purchase.

The AlphaTheta "DDJ-GRV6" is incredibly fun to use. And I mean genuinely fun. That’s the most important part, isn't it?
My feeling is that the transition from a DDJ-FLX4 is quite smooth, and I’ve become a huge fan of how intuitively and seamlessly you can swap out drum parts.
Personally, the DRUM RELEASE function is the real winner for me—I just can't stop creating breakdowns by adding effects!
