A brand new powered guitar cabinet called "TONEX Cab" has been released by IK MULTIMEDIA, a company widely supported by many users for its advanced modeling technology. This time, I tried using it together with the TONEX Pedal amp simulator/multi-effects unit, and I would like to introduce the charm of the product along with a review.
Top 3 Most Impressive Points
① Rated output of 350W, maximum of 700W
The first thing to highlight is the extraordinary power. For comparison, combo amps that are commonly seen in studios are usually around 120W, so it’s clear that this cabinet can produce an exceptionally loud sound. Despite this, it’s lightweight and compact, making it easy to carry around.

② Built-in IR loader that allows custom IR imports
You can process IRs (Impulse Responses) directly on the cabinet side without using a preamp or amp simulator. With the dedicated software “TONEX Cab Control,” you can craft your tone in detail and have it accurately reproduced. It also features 8 preset slots that can save and load settings, allowing you to bring your signature sound anywhere, anytime!

③ Replaceable grille cloths and tilt-back legs
Not only is the swappable grille available in three colors, it’s visually appealing and fun, but it also offers a practical advantage when managing multiple units. Additionally, the built-in tilt-back legs on the side of the cabinet allow you to angle it for better sound projection. This is a truly player-first design through and through.

Trying It Out!

It’s said that pairing the TONEX Pedal with the TONEX Cab brings out its full potential, so I tested them together! The setup is surprisingly simple, but the output is incredibly clear and powerful. Thanks to its 12-inch low-frequency driver and 1-inch high-frequency driver, it provides outstanding sound separation.
Also, this leans into my impression of the TONEX Pedal as well, the sense of air and responsiveness in the sound feels amazingly real. This is likely due to its proprietary DSP algorithm and AMP TONE control. It’s easy to see why this unit was developed as a pro-level FRFR (Full Range Flat Response) powered cabinet.
Summary
This concludes my hands-on review of the TONEX Cab. For those who regularly use amp simulators, this is undoubtedly a groundbreaking product. Even though I have covered many of its features already, it’s worth noting that there are still plenty of convenient functions packed in, such as an XLR output for connecting a second cabinet and MIDI input/output terminals.
