Do you know how PLAYTECH violins, violas, cellos, and other instruments are checked and inspected? This blog post aims to clear up any doubts by showing you, with photos, how the inspection is actually done! Each instrument is carefully adjusted, protected, and inspected by our Technical Team before being shipped, so you can purchase with peace of mind.
■ About the Products Being Inspected
Sound House sells a variety of string instruments, including our own brand PLAYTECH, as well as Japanese brands like Yamaha and Suzuki Violin. For Japanese brand products, inspection is generally carried out by the manufacturers, and our company only conducts checks on the exterior. On the other hand, all PLAYTECH violins, violas, and cellos are adjusted, inspected, and protected by our Tech Team before being shipped!
The photo below shows the actual work being done in our Tech Team. You can see various tools like files and chisels! This is where adjustments to the bridge are made.

■ What Items Are Checked
While it slightly varies depending on the type of instrument, at Sound House, the following items are adjusted and checked before shipment. For the bridge, adjustments are made to ensure the string height is comfortable for playing!
○ Violin/Viola/Cello
- Check for any scratches or cracks on the body
- The bridge is carved and adjusted to ensure the string height is appropriate for playing
- Ensure the pegs and adjusters turn smoothly
- Tune the instrument and check that it can be correctly tuned
○ Bow
- Check that the screw turns properly and the bow hair can be tightened without issues
- Apply rosin to check that it can be properly applied to the bow hair
○ Case & Accessories
- Check that the zippers work properly
- Ensure all accessories like the tuner, shoulder rest, and rosin are included in the set
These are the items we check. For electric violins, in addition to the above, we also connect them to an amplifier and headphones to check the sound!
■ About Packaging
Once the adjustments and inspections are complete, each instrument is carefully packaged. For violins, violas, and cellos, Sound House ships them with the bridge setting up on the instruments. To prevent the bridge from falling, we insert packing materials between the body, bridge, fingerboard, and tailpiece.

Not only violins but also cellos are being shipped out one after another. Inspections for cellos take much more time than violins. It’s quite a task as the number increases, but we put a lot of effort into inspections, imagining how each instrument will look in the hands of our customers.

How was it? At Sound House, we adjust and inspect products before shipment to ensure our customers can use their string instruments with peace of mind. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Sound House!
