I had the opportunity to borrow the new WARM AUDIO condenser microphone WA-47jr SE, so I’m going to immediately review it.
The WA-47jr SE has a cool vintage-style body, and it also comes with a microphone mount. However, since this is a simple model that does not include a low-cut filter, I used the CLASSIC PRO universal shock mount adapter “CMS1” to reduce vibration pickup.
As for the features of the WA-47jr SE:
It is a FET-type condenser microphone inspired by the classic U47 (Neumann vacuum tube condenser microphone), and it combines vintage warmth with modern resolution.
Now, let’s try it out right away!

This time, I recorded saxophone.
It has a rounded and soft impression with a unique midrange reminiscent of a vacuum tube sound.
One of its strengths is that it can capture a good sound without needing detailed settings, which makes it suitable for beginners.
However, because of its high sensitivity, it is also easily affected by room reflections in the recording environment. If this is a concern, I recommend using a universal shock mount adapter like in this case.
Since it’s very difficult to achieve this kind of tone after recording, choosing this microphone will definitely add a strong character to live recording and similar situations.
Compared to my usual ASTON MICROPHONES / Spirit, the saxophone tone changes quite significantly, allowing you to achieve a sweet, vintage-like sax sound.

At first, I was surprised by the difference in tone, but the more I listened, the more addictive it became.
Personally, I feel it pairs best with acoustic music and guitar amplifiers.
Be sure to give it a try!
