Hello. This is a bit sudden, but do you listen to Spitz? I do!
When I listen to music, I always go through myself as a medium, but when I listen to Spitz, the excess self-consciousness is filtered out, and at the same time I feel a new awareness growing. There is a mysterious depth to both the lyrics and the music, and it's gentle.
I love Spitz!
Spitz is known for its simple band structure of guitar, drums and bass, but there are also many songs with brilliant percussion sounds.
In this article, I will focus on the percussion sounds that appear in the songs of Spitz and introduce some of my recommendations!
♪ Unmei no Hito
I'd like to understand the meaning of life by the way the bus sways.
It's certainly very interesting to see unknown roads and buildings when we're on a bus.
The tambourine that continues from the beginning is impressive! When it came to rock-paper-scissors to decide who would be in charge of the small percussion instruments in the brass band, the tambourine was popular. I liked the tambourine because I could see everyone's playing.
The LP (Latin Percussion) tambourine has a structure that makes it easy to hold and reduces stress on the wrist, which is great for long performances! It is characterized by its clear, resplendent sound.
♪ Gunjo
The music video features a white rabbit and a dance performed by the comedy duo, Ungirls!
As the lyrics of “Ao ni Somatteiku yo” (“I'm turning blue”) suggest, the video is tinged with blue throughout, and the scenes switch freely like in a dream, with things like barbecues, dancing and fireworks. I want to enjoy things like a child. In the chorus, you can hear the sound of the glockenspiel, which is very sparkly. The sound is a little childish, and it made my heart sparkle too.
PLAYTECH / PGS400 Glockenspiel
The Playtech glockenspiel offers good value for money! It comes with mallets and a case, so beginners and children can start playing with confidence.
♪ Arigatosan
Arigatosan (thanks) is a nice word! The music video feels like a warm, loving room in a home, and I think it's perfect for the word “arigatosan”. The sound of the sleigh bells that play at the beginning is very impressive! When I think of sleigh bells, I think of Christmas songs. It also gives me the feeling that the year is coming to an end, and that something is ending. I also think that it is a sound that makes you feel like something is being celebrated, or that happiness is approaching me. It also made me think of Christmas presents...
LP (Latin Percussion) sleigh bells equipped with a self-supporting silicone base!
Sleigh bells can make a sound just from being shaken slightly, so there are times when you might be startled by the sound in the middle of a song, but this shape seems to solve that problem!
♪ Cherry
Because I've been familiar with it since I was little, I've heard it in various media, but when I listen to it properly, I can really appreciate the various good points of the song.
The bongo rhythm that plays from the beginning is so pleasant! I want to live with the bright, dry sound like bongos. You can hear the sound of a shaker in the chorus. Shakers are versatile and have a lot of tone variations, so they are very deep.
This bongo has a genuine head made of cowhide and is good value for money.
It is very useful when you feel something is missing in the rhythm, not only in Latin music but also in pop and jazz.
These wooden shakers are made by Sela Cajon, a popular percussion manufacturer from Germany. The set includes three types of shakers: soft, medium and hard. They are highly versatile and can be used in a variety of situations. I find them particularly well-suited to acoustic sessions.
♪ Tekuteku
This is the coupling track for “Haru no Uta” and is included in the album “Orutana”. I really like the music video and the song, which are both very moving.
And you can hear lots of percussion sounds!
There's a lot of djembe, claves, glockenspiel, wind chimes, tambourine… and more.
The djembe has excellent playability and handling using REMO's unique technology, and it also uses an environmentally friendly acoustic shell.
Pearl / CL-02 Orchestra Claves Made of Purple Wood
These claves are made from purple wood, which is characterized by its light and bright sound. The chic and subdued color also looks cool on stage!
I have introduced the percussion sounds that appear in Spitz songs, although it is only a guess! Everyone can make the first sound of a percussion instrument, and there are infinite ways to make the sound, such as shaking, tapping, and touching. I hope you enjoy the percussion instruments and Spitz!
