This is another wind instrument review blog that follows my previous post.

⇒ Plastic?! I tried a plastic euphonium!
This time, I would like to introduce a slide trumpet!
PLAYTECH / PTST-200 Slide Trumpet
The trumpet is an instrument that uses piston valves to change the sound, but the slide trumpet is a sliding type. It looks like a mini-sized trombone (*'▽').
Now, let's open it up!

Let's start with the mouthpiece.
To begin with, I can't believe the mouthpiece is included at this price. That is surprising, isn't it?
The included mouthpiece is 7C, which is a good size for beginners.
For a detailed explanation of the mouthpiece, here’s another staff member’s blog post talking passionately about it in the link below. Please check it out.

By the way, I mentioned earlier that it looks like a trombone, but the mouthpieces for trumpet and trombone are completely different in size. So, if you are used to playing with a larger mouthpiece such as a trombone or tuba, you may have a little trouble producing sound. I am also not very good with a small mouthpiece, so I had a hard time producing sound. It might be easier for horn players to produce sound.
Next is the slide

It's cute. Compared to the slide of a trombone, the difference in size is obvious. It’s almost half the size. The movement of the slide is very smooth. Unlike the trombone, the slide is small and doesn't need a stone butt end, so it doesn't have one.

Finally, the bell.

Yellow brass with clear lacquer finish.

The connection between the slide and bell is made at this part.
It is easy to connect by simply fitting and turning a screw. Tuning is also done by this extractor tube.

Actual blowing impressions.
Although there may be individual differences, I felt that the pitch was well controlled and the instrument was easy to play.
The tone is bright and light, and I think it has a good tone with good extension.
Since it is a B-flat pipe, B-flat is produced in the 1-position of the trombone's slide number. The slide trumpet is not as long as a trombone, so it’s not that difficult to move it around. Because of its affordable price, this is a must-try product for brass players.

As an aside, what do you think of when you think of trumpet music?
Trumpet Holiday, Pigeons and a Boy, and many more are representative pieces of this famous instrument.
The piece that comes to mind for me is Haydn's Trumpet Concerto.
If I were a trumpet player, I would like to play it with an orchestra.

How was it?
This time, I introduced some unusual instruments that tickle my playful spirit.
The slide trumpet, which is sure to be a hit at concerts and events, is an instrument that not only trumpet players, but also brass players, woodwind players, and beginners can enjoy. In addition to the slide trumpet, we also sell pocket trumpets and pocket horns.
