  バッドフィンガーのギタリストで多くの楽曲を産み出した中心人物として長き間に活動してきたジョーイ・モーランドが死去したと、故人のインスタグラムでマネジャーが報告しました。享年77歳。
  Gary Walker & the Rain に参加していたジョーイ・モーランドは、1969年ビートルズのアップルレコードに在籍しているグループ、バッドフィンガーに参加。アップル・レコードの作品ではジョージ・ハリスンの「オール・シングス・マスト・パス」にバンドメンバーと共にアコースティックギターを演奏する等の活動を続けていましたが、1970年の同時期にリリースされたバッドフィンガーのセカンド・アルバム『ノー・ダイス』では、シングル・カットされた「嵐の恋」が大ヒット。後年ジェリー・フィシュにもカバーされるなど、時代を超えたポップミュージックのマスターピースとして知られています。またアルバムに収録された「ウィズアウト・ユー」も後にハリー・ニルソン等によるカバー・ヒットで知られ、スタンダードナンバーとなりました。以降も、アーシーなロックスタイルを取り入れた『ストレート・アップ』を始め、時代のトレンドを織り交ぜながらも一貫したポップセンスで多くのアルバムを残してきました。ソロ活動においても"After the Pearl”や"Be True To Yourself"をはじめ、バッド・フィンガー直球のポップ・ミュージックが聴けるアルバムを発表しファンを魅了し続けてきました。またバッド・フインガーも多くの試練を乗り越えながら再結成し、Joey Molland's Badfingerとしての来日公演では、ロック魂溢れる演奏と極上のメロディーがブレンドされたパワー・ポップなパフォーマンスで掌握していました。最後の最後までバッド・フィンガーを背負い続けながら、UKポップミュージック・アイコンとして愛されてきたジョーイ・モーランド作によるナンバーをお贈りして心よりご冥福をお祈りいたします。
