  キング・クリムゾンの創設メンバーで「21世紀のスキッツォイド・マン」「エピタフ」をはじめ多くの代表曲で作詞を手掛けていたピート・シンフィールドが11月14日に亡くなったと、クリムゾンの公式サイト/SNSアカウントが発表。享年80歳。1969年にロバート・フリップと共にキング・クリムゾンを結成。初期の流動的なメンバー編成の中、1971年のアルバム『アイランズ』まで、リーダーのロバート・フリップを特に作詞の面で支えてきた重要メンバーです。キング・クリムゾン脱退後は、エマーソン・レイク・アンド・パーマーの作品においても『恐怖の頭脳改革』などのアルバムで作詞家としてゲスト参加。ロキシー・ミュージックの1stアルバム『ロキシー・ミュージック』ではプロデューサーとしての活躍を見せるなど、1970年代のUKロック・シーンの大きな功績を残しました。
  80年代以降もシェールやセリーヌ・ディオンの作品に歌詞を提供するなど幅広い活動を行っていました。ロック・ミュージックに知的な世界観を投入し、後世に残る壮大な作品に昇華させてきたピート・シンフィールドの功績を称えるべく、20世紀が産んだ未来のロックアンセム「21世紀のスキッツォイド・マン」をお贈りして、心よりご冥福をお祈りいたします。
