Nobuo Nakajima, who won the Excellence Award under the name "Nobu Obando" in Sound House's Local Song Contest and currently manages Chokura Hall, a multipurpose venue in Takanezawa Town, Tochigi Prefecture, released a lyric video for his original song "Song of Peace" on YouTube on Thursday, August 6, 2026.

Mr. Nakajima, who also serves as a Tochigi Future Ambassador, attended the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Ceremony that day as a representative of bereaved families from Tochigi Prefecture and laid flowers. By releasing the song on the day of the ceremony, he hopes to share the memories of Hiroshima and his desire for peace with people across Japan.

[Background and Meaning Behind the Song]

A native of Hiroshima Prefecture and a third-generation descendant of an atomic bomb survivor, Mr. Nakajima grew up hearing about his family's experiences of the atomic bombing and their deep commitment to peace. Drawing on these stories, he wrote an early version of the song while in college and later completed it through his musical activities in Tochigi Prefecture.

After leaving Hiroshima to attend college, he became aware of regional differences in people's awareness of and attitudes toward August 6 and August 9. This experience inspired him to create the song in the hope that it would give people across generations and regions an opportunity to reflect on the preciousness of life and peace.
