Hello and good evening everyone.
I will be repairing a Stinger II that was brought to us because the red laser has stopped working.

American DJ / Stinger II Moonflower Effect
Stinger II is a lighting system equipped with 6 colors of moonflower (Red / Green / Blue / White / Amber / Pink), 2 types of lasers, and UV LED. It is recommended for dynamic production effects due to its wide illumination range.
First, let’s check the light. Normally, the red and green lasers output at the same time, but let’s check this:

Indeed, there is no red laser output.
Now that I have confirmed the symptoms, I’m going to check the voltage of the laser PCB.

Somehow, the voltage seems to be OK.
I have now narrowed it down to the point that it’s the laser diode that’s faulty.
I will prepare a new laser diode and replace it.

By the way, the laser unit is housed in the housing unit here. To get inside, the wiring in the front has to be removed first.
I’ll remove them quickly.

The wiring is bundled together and passes through between the windows. It’s up to the engineer to make sure that the wiring is not visible from the outside.

Now enough of that. After taking the back screw and removing the housing, the laser diode is exposed. (Woahhh!)
At this point, it’s simply a matter of replacing the diode with a new one.

Now, let’s check the lights.

The red laser is back!!!
The rest of the repair is completed by cleaning dirt, etc., routing the wiring, and reassembling the fixture.

When I was checking the operation of the Stinger II, I felt excited because the area around my desk looks like there’s a party going on.
I personally like this lighting fixture because it is a light that seems to condense a lot of different effects into one, so it can easily be used to liven up a stage. I can imagine that it can be used in any situation such as during standby or during a performance.
So, that’s all for this Stinger II repair diary entry.
I hope you will stop by again next time!
