Anaal Nathrakh is a two-man extreme metal band formed in Birmingham, England.
The band consists of V.I.T.R.I.O.L. on vocals and Irrumator on guitars and programming. The band continues to pursue its own unique style by adding black metal and grindcore-derived guitar riffs over computer music precision drums with ever-changing vocals that don’t have to go to extremes.
Their music is described as “a fusion of black metal and grindcore” or “industrial black metal”.
Seeing is believing, and I think the best way to get a feel for the band is to listen to their music, so please take a moment to listen to “Endarkenment,” the title track of their most recent album.
■ Anaal Nathrakh - Endarkenment
The band opens with an impressive tremolo riff that is even melodious, and after a black metal-like spitting scream, the band enters the verse. After a momentary break, a clean voice comes out to sing. Then, it returns to the tremolo riff from the intro.
Personally, I think that Anaal Nathrakh’s appeal lies in the fact that its music is both “brutal and beautiful,” while it simultaneously pays respect to the extreme metal of the past but still evokes a sense of originality.
I have received news that Anaal Nathrakh may come to Japan!
I write “may” because the event has not yet been decided at the time of writing this article.
First, please take a look below.

The website on which this project has been announced, EVP4U, is a ticket management website with crowdfunding operated by Evoken de Valhall Production (EVP).
Instead of selling tickets for performances that have already been scheduled, a “project” is launched, and the number of tickets sold in advance determines whether or not the performance itself will be held.
EVP is the promoter of many metal bands, and among the musicians that they’re representing, Edu Falaschi, and Wintersun particularly invited a few of us staff members of Sound House to their show in Japan since Sound House loaned equipment to them.
Going back to the EVP4U part, Anaal Nathrakh’s visit to Japan has not been confirmed at this time, which means that we the fans will not get to see them if we do not get support for this project.
Wouldn’t it be sad if we didn’t get to go see them even if we were given the chance? Yes, that would be a very sad thing, indeed.
Therefore, I am writing to tell as many people as possible about the quality of Anaal Nathrakh and the possibility of their coming to Japan, and to pray that the project will be accomplished.
I also hope that this new kind of approach to metal entertainment, which I must say is a niche genre, will gain recognition.
I would like to conclude this post by introducing some of my personal favorite Anaal Nathrakh songs!
Please try to feel the aforementioned “Cohabitation of Tyranny and Beauty” and “Fusion of Respect for the Past and Originality”.
