Behringer - How to Install Audacity

Behringer Audio Interfaces have gained popularity due to their affordability. Many of you may be interested in this product, but wonder, "How exactly do I record with it?” If you are using a Mac, you can use GarageBand or other advanced recording software that is already installed on your computer. There is a free recording software called Audacity, which is the standard for Windows, and I would like to show all of you how to install it!

■ What is Audacity?

Audacity is a free recording software that used to be recommended for making simple recordings, and can be directly downloaded from Behringer's web page.
Since it is not DAW software, multi-channel recording and ASIO drivers cannot be used, but it is a well-established software for simple recording and digitizing sound sources such as tapes.

This time, I will combine the Behringer UCA222 audio interface with stereo RCA inputs.

Now, let's take a look at the Audacity download procedure!

To get started, go to https://www.audacityteam.org/

Wait a few seconds and the download will start automatically.
If it doesn’t start, you can also download Audacity directly from DOWNLOAD AUDACITY in the center of the screen.

Open the downloaded file.

Select your preferred language.

Click "Next" to proceed with the setup.

Launch Audacity that was created on your desktop.
*You can also do this from the Windows Start menu.

When you start Audacity for the first time, you will see a message like this, but for now, click OK to proceed.
*You can refer to the help file if you like, or check the "Do not display next time" checkbox.

Set the microphone and speaker parts in the red frame to the Behringer audio interface to which they are connected.
The display name may change depending on the interface model. In this case, the name is "USB Audio CODEC", so set each to the device with that name.

*This work sets the following two points:

・The device from which to record the input sound when recording.
・Which device's output terminal should be used to output the audio signal for playback.

If you do not select the correct one for this task, you will not be able to input or output sound even if the device is connected via USB.

When you are ready, press the record button to record!
After recording is complete, you can create an audio file on your computer by performing the export operation as shown below!
