On Sunday, May 15, the long-awaited music event REHUB was held at the bar Barge Inn Narita, located along the street that stretches from Narita Station to Naritasan Shinshoji Temple.

- What is REHUB? -
With live events drastically reduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Narita City originally lacking in venues like clubs or music bars, the decline in events has had a significant impact on the city’s music culture. To combat this, the REHUB project was launched by the resident DJs of The Barge Inn, along with groups from fashion culture like Los Mavericks in Shibayama, and collaborated with Narita no Okage who produces live events in the Narita area. The goal is to revive the art culture by reconnecting the community (hub) and to turn negatives into positives, akin to rehabilitation (rehab), hence the name REHUB.
This time, I participated in the event by providing sound and lighting equipment.
The Barge Inn used to actively host DJ events before the pandemic, using CLASSIC PRO PA speakers as the main system. For the event, I brought in the JBL EON710 for floor monitors and the JBL PRX ONE to cover the depth of the venue.

The EON710 has an EQ preset specifically for floor monitors, making setup super easy—just adjust the volume to the perfect level. The entire soundcheck took only a few minutes!

Here’s the latest JBL column speaker, PRX ONE.
Since there was a wall between the stage and the entrance, I placed it like this.
I received sound from the mixer via AUX, and the result was amazing. The wide coverage of the array speaker shone, ensuring that the sound was clear no matter where you listened. The subwoofer added just the right amount of low-end thickness to the overall sound, creating a great balance throughout the venue. With EQ set flat and only minimal adjustments to balance with the main speakers, I was surprised by how great the sound was.

For lighting, I used one EK PRO Liteparpro 7QX and one 7HX. Since we didn’t have a dedicated lighting staff (though I really just wanted to join the cheers with everyone during the event, lol), I set them to Master/Slave mode with a fade auto-color change effect.

I also set up STAGE EVOLUTION COLOR STRIP12 behind the DJ table, running it in auto mode.

I placed the COLOR STRIP12 on the floor on each side, providing more than enough brightness and coverage, creating a great atmosphere. The CLASSIC PRO CP15II main speaker also played a big role!
Now, here are some photos I took:

The main mixer was a Soundcraft Ui16.

Like this.

Adjusting the sound while standing at different spots around the venue, tweaking things in real-time.

Here’s aimi-san during soundcheck!
As soon as I heard her voice, I got goosebumps. It felt like we had finally returned to this special place, filling me with a sense of joy I can’t quite describe.

There was a PA10/4 monitor for DJ (Not used on this day).

Even though PRX ONE was the best that night, it stood out because of the great feedback from the audience. People were asking me, “What kind of speaker is this? The sound is amazing!”—so I used that as my chance to enthusiastically promote it! Since it’s tall, it doesn’t even need a speaker stand to project sound at an ideal height. It’s a perfect example of “crystal-clear sound”—it doesn’t overpower the room, but you can feel its presence everywhere. I was truly impressed.

Barge Inn Narita is a legendary venue that nearly every local young person knows. I’ve been here in Narita for 13 years, and back in my single days, I used to come here almost every weekend!

Of course, proper COVID-19 measures were in place, and everyone cooperated.
Thank you!

This is the 3QUESTIONS CLUB corner that helped make the event a success.
They were screen printing REHUB logos onto t-shirts right there on the spot, so I had them make one for me—and I even bought some for my colleagues!

Then came aimi-san’s live performance.
It was the highlight of the event!
I couldn’t get closer for better photos because there were so many people, but it was an unforgettable experience.
Since meeting Narita no Okage and aimi-san, I’ve happily watched them both grow with each event. Then came the pandemic, and everything paused. But finally, we’re back, and I was overwhelmed with joy to reunite with everyone here.
I truly believe in the power of music.
Whether you’re the one delivering the music or receiving it, you get this incredible energy from it. Everyone naturally smiles, moves freely to the rhythm, and shares the same sound, space, and time—there’s nothing better than that, right? I’m so glad I could help create such a space. It looks like there will be another event around July or August, so I’ll report back then. Stay tuned!

My beloved junior colleagues.

The first beer was delicious!

Here’s a photo of me and Y-san.
