[Music Production and Streaming] A Thorough Review of Useful Functions Featured in the High-Quality Axino USB Microphone!

The design of the Axino is so luxurious, and I felt the excitement overflowing as I was opening the box. Some of the basic functions can be controlled on the mic such as the input level control knob and the headphone control knob. There is also a pad switch which can be useful when recording loud sounds and a low-cut switch to suppress unnecessary low frequencies. As shown in the picture on the right, the accessories are a shock mount, a desktop stand, and a windscreen included in the box, making this set complete with all the necessary accessories for recording.

The settings on the computer can be set up by installing the application according to the manual and activating the microphone through the application. The preparation is now complete.

Control panel full of amazing features

This next feature is what I want to talk about the most!
What surprised me the most while using the Axino was that its application supports a wide variety of recordings.
The factory setting includes 10 types of effects, and you can precisely tune the input sound with EQ, reverb, and compressor. You can also expand the effects from the online shop.

All of these effects come included just by purchasing the Axino mic alone.

You can use custom presets created by the developer and you can also adjust each parameter in the effects and combine multiple effects to just how you like it.
Among the effects I tried out, I really liked the natural texture of the compressor Opto 2A and I thought that it was good for recording vocals. I’m going to mention more later, but the Axino was also very convenient because I could just adjust the mixer in the control panel when I wanted to record a sound with effects and dry sound at the same time.

18 mic emulations

The Axino emulates 18 classic microphone models, allowing you to shift the mic mode according to the style of recording that you want to achieve.

Easily save settings created in the control panel and access them later so you don’t have to recreate the same settings every time.

Routable mixer section

In the mixer section of the control panel, you can also control the amount of reverb for each channel and quickly switch between the sound when the effect is applied and when the sound is bypassed. By creating settings for channels 1/2 and 3/4 in your DAW software, you can record both dry sound without effects and wet sound with effects at the same time. This feature is very useful when arranging and mixing.

The above is a screen capture of when I used the Axino mic on Cubase. The Axino lets you listen to not only the input sound but also the sound passed through the master fader on the DAW software by outputting it from the headphone terminal on the Axino mic.
You can also send audio to streaming platforms such as Zoom with an effect applied.

I tested out the Axino mic on Zoom to try different mic emulations and changed the amount of the applied effects, and I was able to send different sound textures to the remote attendees and they said that they could hear the difference.

Conclusion

At first I thought that the Axino mic was just a high-quality USB microphone, but really it can do what usually only audio interfaces that have the loopback function can do, so you can also use a lot of high-quality effects. I didn’t expect that this mic would be such a useful microphone on its own. I think that it’s an item that will definitely be a big hit not only with people who do music production but also for people who want to improve the sound quality for live streaming singing while playing an instrument and podcasting.
