Recommended Musicians I Have Recently Discovered!

2022-01-06

Theme:Artists & Songs

In this blog article, I would like to introduce some of the most promising musicians I have recently discovered from my playlist! Each of them has their own unique characteristics, and once you listen to them, you will have to repeat them. Please be sure to read to the end!

■ Akiyama Kiro “Caffeine”

First, I would like to introduce “Caffeine” by Akiyama Kiro. The name is so unique that once you hear the name, it will leave a lasting impression on you! The introductory guitar rhythm continues through to verse. The simple pattern blends well with the melody, creating a sound that one never grows tired of hearing. The pre chorus is punctuated by a single note from the bass, followed by the snare sound of the drums, which makes one aware of the change in pattern development. By gathering the lyrics in the first half of the beat, the groove is kept in the foreground, giving the listener a sense of being drawn into the song. The chorus increases the number of notes at once, and the vocal melody is sung in a simple pattern and falsetto in the second half. The song has a dizzying structure, returning to the intro and the interlude with the same guitar pattern as the intro. Despite the large ups and downs in one song, the song is well connected from verse to chorus, and I thought the compositional sense was excellent!

■ eill “Koko de Iki wo Shite”

Next, let me introduce “Koko de Iki wo Shite” by eill. This song is used as the ending song for the TV anime Tokyo Revengers. The atmosphere of the song is reminiscent of Tokyo Incidents and Utada Hikaru. eill's voice is lustrous and very vocal, giving the impression that a new diva has appeared on the scene. The range of the vocals and the instruments are clearly separated, and the low notes of the piano and bass bring the song together. Accent brass instruments and a slight radio voice-like effect on the vocals match the distortion of the guitar. The bassist is probably the coolest person in this kind of stylish, mature-feeling song. I am a vocalist, but I would like to try to play bass on this song.

■ BAK “Parallel World”

The last song I would like to introduce is “Parallel World” by BAK. The song itself is very beautiful, but what should be noted is the music video that matches the lyrics and its content. The lyrics are written from a woman's perspective, and there are two PVs on YouTube, one for the first part and the other for the second part. The second part is sung by a female vocalist named YO_CO, and despite similar lyrics and melody, it feels like a completely different song. The song became famous when Yuri covered it on his YouTube channel. The tune has a band sound, yet the melody line is typical of J-POP and embraces a sense of nostalgia. Please listen to it along with the PV!

In this blog article, I have introduced only those musicians whom I have discovered in the past few months. Each of them has a wonderful sense of style, and I am looking forward to their further activities in the future. I am writing this blog at the end of the year, and I would like to follow their example and devote myself to their work so that I can make even greater strides in my own activities! Thank you for reading to the end!
