Looking Into the Guitars Played by These Really Talented Female Artists!

The guitars used by artists you like are always something I’m curious about. So, I decided to look into the guitars used by some female artists that have caught my attention recently.

■ Rei

An artist who blends classical guitar and blues as her foundation, incorporating various musical styles to create her own unique musical world. Her guitar skills are top-notch, and her surprisingly powerful vocals from such a small frame are also what draws her audience in! Rei masterfully plays classical guitar, acoustic guitar, and electric guitar. Here’s a look at the guitars she has played on.

Electric Guitars

• Rickenbacker 330
  A classic Rickenbacker guitar that’s popular for its distinctive style and crisp tone, in a blue gradient color. It’s a rare color, but Rei actually painted it herself. You can actually watch the painting process on her YouTube channel.

  A beginner-friendly Fender guitar with a short scale and charming design, perfectly fitting Rei’s image.

• GIBSON FLYING V "R"
  A V-shaped electric guitar made famous by players like Jimi Hendrix. Rei even played on this model during her appearance on Music Station.

• Gibson LG-2 Vintage Model
  A small-bodied guitar that produces a surprisingly rich sound, compact and easy to handle. Rei uses a vintage model, often seen in her live performances and YouTube videos.

■ Erino Yumiki (Yumiki Erino)

Erino Yumiki, who has played the violin since she was two and a half, uses it as the foundation of her musical style. She started playing guitar in her first year of junior high. She also runs a solo project under the name Yumiki Toy and is well known as the guitarist and vocalist for KIRINJI. As of October 2021, she is studying abroad at a music university in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

  An electric guitar gifted by her father for her 17th birthday. Features noiseless pickups and a thicker neck.

  An electric guitar used in KIRINJI’s live performances. Designed by Finnish luthier Kari Nieminen, it features a beautiful design. Yumiki borrowed this guitar from a fellow musician.

  A signature solid-body guitar from Yamaha, frequently used in KIRINJI’s live shows.

  A high-quality yet affordable Yamaha PACIFICA model. Yumiki also used this guitar in KIRINJI’s live performances.

• Gibson Melody Maker
  A budget-friendly electric guitar notable for its thick sound. Yumiki purchased this on a loan when she was 18.
  Additionally, she has used semi-hollow guitars such as the Epiphone Casino and Epiphone Wildkat.

• YAMAHA LLX26C、LJ66、CPX1200
  LLX26C and CPX1200 are cutaway electro-acoustic guitars, while LJ66 is a medium-sized acoustic guitar, making them easy to play even for smaller-bodied players.

  An electro-acoustic guitar with a J-45 body and a pickup. This model was also played by The Beatles. Additionally, she has used the Takamine PT-107.

■ Sakura Fujiwara

Sakura Fujiwara started playing guitar at age 10 and began composing music while still in elementary school. Her low, bluesy voice is her key charm. She enjoys country and folk music, which form the foundation of her musical style. She also has a friendship with Rie.

Acoustic Guitar

• Martin　000C Nylon
  She purchased this nylon-string guitar because she felt its soft tone matched her voice. It is equipped with a Fishman F1 Analog1 pickup.
• Martin 00-17 Vintage Model
  A compact-bodied acoustic guitar fitted with a Rare Earth Humbucking pickup, used as an electro-acoustic guitar.

■ Kaori Muraji

Kaori Muraji began playing classical guitar at the age of three and has won numerous guitar competitions, including the top prize at the Junior Guitar Competition. She is a renowned classical guitarist.

• José Luis Romanillos, 1972
  José Luis Romanillos is a guitar maker from Spain. His classical guitars are often referred to as the “Stradivarius of guitars.”
  Kaori owns around 20 other guitars in addition to this one.
