During this long state of emergency, I think many of you might be spending time doing nothing in particular at home, not being able to go out much. I know I've been lazy as hell myself. Lol.
When I DJ, I play both vinyl and digital. I thought it would be unique if I could master and manage the vinyl sound data on DAW software and use it for DJing.
Since vinyl records tend to deteriorate, it's a good idea to save them as digital data as well. Maybe you can try to record vinyl to digital media while listening to records in your spare time at home!? In this article, I'm going to introduce some recommended DJ equipment for both listening and recording vinyl records.
■Turntables
Pioneer DJ/PLX-500-K

The PLX-500 has a USB port so you can connect it directly to your PC and start recording right away. This turntable is made by Pioneer DJ so the sound quality is perfect. It's also available in a really cool white, so you have another option that could go perfectly with your home decor. Please check it out! Now, it also comes with the record cleaners that I previously introduced.

■Audio Interfaces
If you already have a turntable, mixer, and environment where you can play vinyl records, you can easily convert them into digital data with an audio interface.
Pioneer DJ/interface2
The interface2 is a DJ audio interface for DVS, but the rekordbox itself has a recording function, so it can convert vinyl records into digital data. In addition, if you record with the rekordbox, you can manage your DJ music right on the rekordbox itself. It's so handy and hassle-free!
FOCUSRITE/Scarlett 2i2 (gen. 3)
This Scarlett series from Focusrite is a really great value! The most important feature is that the Ableton Live Lite is bundled. It's a DAW software that has a high affinity with DJing and is a lightweight version of the Ableton Live, so the Ableton Live Lite is highly recommended for those who are considering DJing with the Ableton Live.
If you value the sound quality more than anything, the following high-end audio interfaces are used by many popular international music producers who also DJ!
ANTELOPE AUDIO/Discrete 4 Synergy Core
RME/Fireface UCX
■Cartridges
The audio interface affects the sound, but the cartridge and stylus also change the sound quality and how the sound can be heard. The following DJ cartridges are recommended for recording vinyls!
ORTOFON/Concorde MkII CLUB TWIN
Speaking of DJ cartridges, Concorde series from ORTOFON may pop into your mind first. The CLUB, the king of the Concorde MkII series, is highly recommended for recording vinyls. This CLUB is the only model in the Concorde MkII series that uses an elliptical stylus. The elliptical stylus picks up every detail of the sound, which means it produces the sound in high resolution. Also, the high output voltage of 8mV is advantageous for recording vinyls because it requires less gain from the preamp.
RELOOP/CONCORDE VIBE
The CONCORDE VIBE from RELOOP also has an elliptical stylus and has high output. The inside of the cartridge is made by ORTOFON so the sound quality is excellent. The colors of this cartridge look similar to ORTOFON/Concorde Nightclub MkII.
100SOUNDS/RC-AL100
This stylus, the RC-AL100 from 100SOUNDS, is designed for enjoying the purest representation of the original track during playback. It adds less character of the cartridge to the sound, so it's highly recommended for those who edit and master digitized sound sources themselves.
■Conclusion
What do you think? I'm not going to waste my time at home so I'm going to digitize my vinyl records. Now I can prepare for my future DJing gigs after this state of emergency is over! I hope your time at home will be fulfilling, too!!
