Hello, I’m Kazu Yamamoto, a jazz guitarist.
Today, I’d like to introduce the sleek and compact ZT AMP Lunchbox Amp!

Not the Lunchbox Reverb, but the Lunchbox Amp.
Although this is technically an older model, it still works great, and I feel it has a slightly different tone compared to the Lunchbox Reverb.
It’s kind of like how Fender’s Blues Junior Series has a distinct vibe.

Of course, while I won’t cover it here, the Lunchbox Reverb is also an incredibly appealing amp.
It features built-in reverb in a compact amp, so you can take it anywhere for gigs without the need for external pedals.
This kind of portability makes planning performances more exciting and less about being tied down to equipment.

However, for my setup, the Lunchbox Amp has turned out to be a better fit, so that’s the one I’m using!

It’s easy to carry, compact, and can produce both loud and soft sounds effortlessly.
Let’s dive into its key features!

3 Key Points of the ZT Lunchbox Amp

  1. Easy to carry: Compact design and ultra-lightweight at just 4.3kg.
  2. 6.5-inch speaker: Produces rich low-end despite its small size.
  3. Works well with all kinds of guitars, from vintage models to entry-level ones, delivering an excellent clean tone!

What Kind of Amp Is It?

With its rounded, silver design, the amp has a subtle yet stylish look that fits in anywhere, from desks to shelves.
Its size is 192 mm x 250 mm x 139 mm (H x W x D), making it truly portable.
Weighing just 4.3kg, it’s about as light as a bowling ball for women, though, of course, you won’t be throwing it around lol.
The handle on the top makes it even easier to carry!

The controls include Ambience, Tone, Volume, and Gain from left to right.
While it doesn’t have reverb, you can still craft your sound with these controls.
The Ambience knob isn’t reverb, but it creates a spatial effect when used sparingly.
It’s a smooth setup that allows you to quickly dial in your preferred sound.

On the back, there’s a Speaker Out, Headphone Out, Headphone Volume Control, External Audio Input Jack, and a Speaker On/Off Switch.
What’s especially great is the Headphone Out and External Audio Input Jack.
You can practice quietly with headphones at any time, and play along with your favorite music or rhythm tracks through the external audio input, making your practice sessions much more immersive.

Now, let’s take a closer look at its sound quality!

Impressive Sound

I’ve already conveyed the smart, compact, and convenient nature of this amp.
Now, let’s talk about how it sounds with an actual performance video that I’ve recorded.

In this video, I played an Epiphone Broadway (with Bartolini PBF55 pickups).
Although modified, the Broadway is still part of the Epiphone Series, so it’s a relatively affordable guitar.
The clean tone comes through as creamy and smooth.
The sound feels natural, but the low-end especially tightens up beyond the instrument’s acoustic sound.
This makes it a great match for big-bodied guitars, pulling out their strong tones, and giving you a clear, slightly distorted high-end typical of spruce tops.

Since it has a small speaker, the amp responds quickly and gives a crisp attack.
It handles the thick, full tones of a hollow-body guitar while maintaining clarity.
Even in situations where small amps can struggle with separation, the Lunchbox Amp excels, giving you clean chords and clear arpeggios.
The rich, focused low-end and sparkling highs are faithfully reproduced, making it a very ‘usable’ sound overall.
For fingerstyle players, it offers a sound that makes playing easy and enjoyable.

What’s really impressive is that despite being compact, the amp doesn’t sound cheap. In fact, it enhances the sound, giving it a high-end quality!

Whether you’re using different types of guitars, the Lunchbox Amp brings out the best in each, making it a versatile choice for a wide range of settings.

Compact Yet High-Quality

So, how did you find the ZT AMP Lunchbox Amp?
Its small, light, and sleek design makes it easy to use, and its sound works well with everything from vintage guitars to more affordable models, making it a near-perfect amp with very few drawbacks.
It’s great for small gigs or sudden performances—just grab the Lunchbox and you’re good to go. And since it’s so light, it’s truly a lifesaver lol.

The Lunchbox Reverb is also a great amp, carrying forward the user-friendliness of the original Lunchbox while adding some extra features.

From home practice to live performances, especially with an external speaker setup, the Lunchbox Series offers a smart solution for all kinds of situations.
I highly recommend picking one up and experiencing its charm for yourself!
