A Summary of Desks and Chairs That are the Cornerstone of Any Composition Work Space

Dear Composers! What kind of desk/chair do you use for composing computer music?

Your computer desk, study desk, dining table, etc... I think some of you are using a kotatsu or rearranging your closet into a desk!

If you do computer music you definitely need these items,

• MIDI keyboard
• Mouse
• Keyboard
• Headphones
• Speakers

I recommend that you use a desk with excellent functionality and durability, as you will be using various precision equipment such as a desk for computer music! (I am using a combination desk from IKEA, but I am planning to change to a desk for computer music because I am worried about its durability.)

Since I am planning to move to a computer music desk, I have been researching what kind of products are available.

The main top panel is height-adjustable in three positions, so you can adjust it to your preference for easy keyboard operation. Note that the top panel is 130 cm wide and 70 cm deep, so it may be difficult to install an 88-key MIDI keyboard.

If you are doing software-based production without hardware, this should be sufficient for you.

The price is so low that this would have been unthinkable a decade ago!

QUIK LOK / Z-250 Workstation

A full-scale workstation with excellent durability. It provides a sense of security even with delicate equipment installed.

There are three levels of installation space: top, main, and keyboard tray. Speakers can be placed in the upper section, mouse and keyboard in the main section, and MIDI keyboard in the keyboard tray. The keyboard tray can be pulled out so that it can be used as desired.

The keyboard tray can be closed when not in use to protect devices from dust. The weight/size seems to be quite large to achieve high strength, so please check the size before purchasing!

This product is ideal for those who want to achieve a full-fledged DTM environment at a low price. It will give you a blast of motivation to compose music!

A gaming chair with a simple design that fits in any room. Gaming chairs have an image of being extremely gaudy, but this one has a much calmer look!

Both armrests can be lifted up so you can comfortably play your guitar or bass. It is perfect for today's music scene, where the demand for home recording has increased.

The PU leather can be easily wiped clean, so there is no problem using this chair for a long time. It also has excellent functionality, such as the ability to adjust the angle by adjusting the lever.

Ergonomically designed gaming chair. The chair provides a great fit by supporting the body in a supportive and enveloping manner.

The high-density, thick cushion can be used for a long period of time without sagging. The multi-layered synthetic leather used throughout is highly durable and does not peel easily over time.

The 4D armrests can be adjusted up and down, back and forth, left and right. It can be oriented inward and outward, allowing for a great deal of flexibility.

Note that the height (my recommendation): 170-190cm, so I’m not sure if it is suitable for use by children or petite women!

BASIX / Mid-back office chair COF176/BLACK

A great value office chair with the minimum necessary functions. The entire backrest is made of mesh material for excellent ventilation.

Simple is good! I recommend this chair for those who want something simple!

The above is a summary of my recommended desks/chairs. Compared to a decade ago, the product lineup has increased considerably, and many of them seemed to be perfect for individual studios.
