CLASSIC PRO, the professional audio equipment brand by Sound House, introduces a new product, the CPL4050, a compact, high quality 4-channel power amplifier.

The CPL4050 is not a power amplifier for loud PA applications such as live performances or outdoor events, but rather a multi-purpose power amplifier for small spaces such as background music, lessons or presentations.

In this issue, I would like to introduce the brilliant points of it as a power amp product manager.

01. 4-Channel

• Stereo Output: 75W（4Ω）×4、50W（8Ω）×4
• Bridged Output:150W（8Ω）×2

Having four channels means that you can connect a lot of speakers.
This means that you can cover a larger area, simply because the sound coverage area is larger by the number of loudspeakers.f

These speakers can be mounted on the wall with the included bracket, which also reduces the installation space and visual oppression of a tripod speaker stand.

02. Individual Channel Volume Adjustment in Mono Mode

Mono mode is a connection method where two inputs and four outputs are used.
You can imagine that two L speakers and two R speakers are producing sound from two inputs, the main output L and R of one analogue mixer. There are other models with this mode that allow the volume of ch2 (ch4) to change simultaneously with the volume knob of ch1 (ch3), which has its advantages, but the CPL4050 allows to change volume for each channel for a more flexible system construction.

03. Silent Cooling Fan

Some situations where small speakers are used for background music or loudspeakers are in quiet places, such as theater, hospitals and school classes. The CPL4050 uses a low-noise cooling fan to ensure stress-free use.

04. Professional Input and Output Terminals

The audio output terminals can be used for unbalanced connections with red-and-white RCA consumer players and other equipment, but they also support balanced connections with XLR and TRS phones. The output terminals use SpeakON terminals. Unlike bare wire or banana plugs, SpeakON can be locked and can be plugged in and out smoothly.

05. Highly Visible LED Indicators

On the front panel is a four-segment LED meter that allows you to check the output level of the amplifier. It is recommended that the volume is kept to a level where the LIMIT indicator at the top does not come on. Be careful not to turn the volume up too high, as this can cause damage to the speakers. Note that the CPL4050’s level meter is designed to display the output level, so the meter will not swing unless the knob is turned.

06. Supporting Stereo, Mono and Bridge

Stereo: simple mode with four inputs and four outputs.
Mono: mode with two inputs and four outputs. As mentioned in point 02, this mode is used when you want to use a single stereo output device to play four speakers.
Bridge: this mode uses the two channels as a single channel to act as a two-channel power amplifier with a large output.

Note: In Bridge mode, the SpeakON wiring is different from the other two modes.

• Stereo/Mono: + → 1+、- → 1-
• Bridge: + → 1+、- → 2+

A 4-conductor SpeakON connector such as CLASSIC PRO SPK4F or Neutrik NL4FXX-W is required.
