• プロコル・ハルムの創設メンバー兼作詞家のキース・リード死去

  プロコル・ハルムの創設メンバーで、大ヒット曲『青い影』などバンドのほとんどの楽曲歌詞を書いた作詞家のキース・リードが死去。享年76歳。1966年、のちにザ・クラッシュの『ロンドン・コーリング』をプロデュースするガイ・スティーヴンスの紹介で元ザ・パラマウンツのゲイリー・ブルッカーと出会い、ともにソングライティングを開始。1967年にはプロコル・ハルムを結成。キース・リードが作詞し、ゲイリー・ブルッカーが作曲した『青い影』が同年大ヒットし、日本を含め世界で多くのカバーバージョンを生み出した名曲として知られる事になりました。
  
  ロックの歌詞にギリシャ神話用語をフィーチャーするなど、キース・リードによるアカデミックな歌詞は、のちのプログレッシブ・ロックはじめイギリスの音楽シーンに大きな影響を与えてきました。
