• リヴァプールでビートルズの祭典に出演する日本のバンド、BEAT BEATSのドキュメンタリーが放送決定!

  イギリスのリヴァプールで年に1回開催されるビートルズの祭典「インターナショナル・ビートルウィーク・フェスティバル(International Beatleweek Festival)」。ビートルズの街＝リヴァプールにて1週間行われるビートルズファンのための祭典です。今年は8/21から開催され、世界中から関係者やファンが集まる「Beatles Convention」や、リヴァプールの街を挙げての屋外ライブ「Liverpool Celebrates a Tribute to Mathew Street Festival」のほか、ご紹介しきれないほどの催事が盛り沢山なビッグ・イベントとなっており、ビートルズ所縁の人物からウィングスのメンバーなども参加しています。ビートルズファンなら誰でも一度は行ってみたいこのお祭りに登場する日本のビートルズ・トリビュート・バンド、BEAT BEATSを追いかけたドキュメンタリーがイベントに先駆けてニュースで放送されることが決定。6/25(火曜日）21:30からチバテレの番組『newsチバ』にて、BEAT BEATSによる最初期のビートルズの再現を楽しむことができます。リバープールでは、ビートルズファンには説明不要のライブスポット、キャヴァーン・クラブ及びカスバコーヒークラブ、さらにはまさかの場所での公演の可能性もということです。今年はポール・マッカートニーの「Get Back」ツアーの公演日も続々と決まるなど、世界中のビートルズ熱が高まっているので、今年の夏を「インターナショナル・ビートルウィーク」で、FAB4になり切って過ごしてみては！

  1980年前後のニューヨークのアンダーグラウンドミュージックを語る上では欠かせないムーブメント、ノー・ウェイヴ（No wave）。シーンの中心人物の一人であるジェームス・チャンスが長い闘病生活の末、亡くなったと発表されました。享年71歳。
  1977年、ニューヨークでジェームス・チャンス・アンド・ザ・コントーションズを結成。パンクとファンクやフリー・ジャズをミックスしたアナーキーなサウンドは、ソニック・ユースなどの先鋭的なロックバンドにも影響を与えていました。グループはブライアン・イーノのプロデュースによりノー・ウェイヴ・ムーブメントのバイブル的なコンピレーション・アルバム『ノー・ニューヨーク』に参加。当時のミュージックシーンで賛否両論を引き起こしたものの、以降のロック・シーンの音楽への導線として後年高い評価を受け、発売当時のアナログLPはコレクターズアイテムとしても人気の一枚となっております。
  その後もジェームス・ホワイト・アンド・ザ・ブラックス、ジェームス・ホワイツ・フレイミング・デモニックスでの活動やコントーションズの再結成やソロアルバムのリリースなど、精力的に活動を続け、2010年代のライブでも圧巻のライブパフォーマンスを繰り広げていました。長きにわたり音の前衛芸術を体現してきた、レジェンド・オブ・ノー・ウェイヴ、ジェームス・チャンスのご冥福を心よりお祈りいたします。
