  コマーシャルソングでお馴染みの「Daydream Believer」やセックス・ピストルズのカバーも人気な「(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone」などのヒットで60年代のアメリカン・ポップスシーンを席捲してきたロックバンド、ザ・モンキーズのマイク・ネスミスが12月10日に死去されました。享年78歳。1965年にザ・モンキーズのオーディションを受けて、デイヴィ・ジョーンズ、ピーター・トーク、ミッキー・ドレンツと共にメンバーに選出され、特に日本ではTVドラマ「ザ・モンキーズ（ザ・モンキーズ・ショー）」で昭和のお茶の間を沸かせたことをご記憶の方も多いと思います。カントリー・ロックの名曲「ネバダ・ファイター」をヒットさせてソロ・アーティストとしての活躍を見せたり、さらには映画製作の分野でも賞をとるなど、多彩なエンターテインメントぷりを発揮。長きに渡ってアメリカン・エンターテインメント界を賑わせてきた、マイク・ネスミス。不朽の名ドラマ「ザ・モンキーズ（ザ・モンキーズ・ショー）」のテーマをお贈りしてご冥福を心よりお祈りします。
